Katherine Daniels Instant Effect Eye Masks Review

Reviewed by Elly Sax

I am a woman in my 40’s, and I’ll be honest, I don’t look after myself as much as I should. I try to eat well, I do a bit of exercise but when it comes to skin care I am pretty lazy. I use a cleanser, toner and moisturiser (when I have time) and that is where my skin care routine ends. As I have started to get older though, and particularly in the last 12 months, I have noticed my skin has changed, and not for the better. That’s why I was so pleased to be offered the chance to test and review Katherine Daniels Instant Effect Eye Mask. It gave me a chance to try a product which would compliment my existing routine without the need to buy a whole new regime.

Katherine Daniels was formed in 2013 when Kirsti Shuba and Donna Tait decided to put their 65 years of experience into developing a range of results driven products which would really benefit their clients skin, without the need for lengthy, complicated facial routines. This interested me as although I try to cleanse, tone and moisturise daily I don’t always have to time to really devote to myself. They recommend a 4 step routine, skin essentials, boosts, defence and treats. The instant Effects Eye Masks are a perfect example of how an extra little skin treat can be added to your facial routine. And what a treat they are, they have been awarded as the Winner in both the Beauty Bible and The Beauty Shortlist awards for 2020, along with a host of other products from the Katherine Daniels range.

The Instant Effects Eye Masks come in a box of 4 treatments, each treatment is two eye masks and an activation solution within a self contained blister sealed pack. This is a really good way to present the product, it gave me confidence that the product was going to be hygienic, it also means that you get precisely the right amount of product each time you use the treatment, with no mess or fuss. You press gently onto the part of the pack containing the activation liquid, which then spreads through to the eye masks, after 60 seconds the masks are ready to use. Once applied you leave the eye mask in place for 20 minutes, then gently massage any excess solution into your skin once you remove the pads, there is no need to rinse. The skin around the eye area is 20 times thinner than the skin on the rest of your face, this is why skin around the eyes can be the first to show real signs of ageing, so Instant Effects Eye Masks are a great addition to your skincare routine if you want an extra little anti ageing boost.

I found the eye masks really simple to use, the activation solution gave enough moisture to the eye masks that they felt wet enough without leaving lots of product behind in the packaging. Once ready the eye masks were easy to position under the eye area and were wet enough to stay in place while they worked their magic. They felt cool and comfortable and stayed on well for the 20 minutes that is recommended, in fact I left them on slightly longer and they still didn’t dry out. Once I removed the pads I patted the area gently and did not rinse. At first the area felt slightly oily or tacky to the touch but after a short while this went away and my skin was left feeling very smooth. I think you could easily apply makeup after using the eye masks although I didn’t as used them as a treat before bedtime. The skin around my eyes definitely felt nourished and smooth once I removed the eye masks, I would agree with the claim that they eye masks plump the skin, and the deep lines under my eyes definitely looked finer once I had used the masks. The really nice thing was the next morning, the skin still looked plumper, smoother and less wrinkly. I think these eye masks are a real treat to boost your skincare routine at home and are something you could add into your weekly routine, or something you could use before a special occasion.

Other benefits of the range include the fact that Katherine Daniels do not test any of their products on animals and 90% of the range are suitable for Vegans. The products are also free from parabens, mineral oils, MI (MIT), MCI, SLS, Phthalates and they offer a fragrance free collection also. The fact that the products are free from these common allergens gives me confidence that the results I’m getting are not coming at a longer term cost to my health.

Overall I would recommend these eye masks, they are a treat and add that little bit extra to your weekly facial routine. They leave your skin feeling refreshed, plumped and rejuvenated ready for that special occasion or just for a bit of me time.
