Interplay Take ‘n’ Play Anywhere Games Review

Bingo / Noughts and Crosses

Reviewed by Trish Bramhall

It was coming up to the last week of the summer holidays when I was chosen to review two travel toys from the Interplay Take ‘n’ Play Anywhere magnetic games range.

We received Noughts and Crosses and Bingo, both items are for two players aged 4 plus (so be careful of any young ones).

A fab idea for both these travel toys is that they come in a metal tin with magnetic pieces for the youngsters to easily use.

So first of all everyone’s favourite, Bingo. Everything you need for the game comes in a very compact tin, so one player has the lid of the tin and the other player has the base. On the inside of these is 25 squares, the middle square is a ‘free’ square and the other 24 squares each has cute little animals in ranging from butterfly to rabbit to sheep and giraffe.

You have 18 small spongy/magnetic markers, one player chooses the red markets and the other player chooses the blue markers. The game comes with a small square board with each of the squares featuring animals on it and a pointed spinner, and you are ready to start the game.

We got the chance to first use this whilst travelling in the car to the seaside with the grandchildren.

There was none of this normal Are we there yet! As the 7 year old and 5 year old took it in turns to see who could get the 5 in a row first and shout Bingo! and then continue with who next would win.

The markers are a handy little size which we found better to store whilst travelling/playing in the cut out marker strips and just pop one out at a time to place onto the animal, marvellous little game.

The next game was Interplay Noughts and Crosses 2 games in 1. Which again is the same compact magnetic tin, this opens up and there is there simple Noughts and Crosses game on one side and a four in a row game in the other side. All the simple rules for these games are printed inside as well.

There is nothing better than getting the children these days away from all the electronic gadgets that seem to have taken over, and enjoying family time playing good old fashioned simple games together, and with these great idea of take and play anywhere games you can do just that. May it be travelling somewhere or just sitting down together and enjoying these games.

So Noughts and Crosses easy peasy. You get 6 magnetic blue shaped crosses and 6 magnetic red shaped noughts pick which shape you want and take in turns to see who can get three in a row – we let the young ones win a few times just to make it more fun for them that they were beating adults.

And now for the other side of the tin – Four in a Row. You get 10 very small magnetic dots of both colours cleverly stored in the centre of the noughts and down the side of the crosses. Two players take it in turns to roll the dice (this comes with the game). And the number it lands on you place your colour dot marker onto  the numbers on the game board, first one to get four in a row wins  so you put  a market in the score board and play again and the first player to win 5 times is the overall winner.

These easy little games can be enjoyed by kids against adults or kids against kids.

Both games fit neatly into the pockets of back of car seats or into children’s back packs etc. They take up no room at all, easy to keep clean with them being in tin and obviously last for years rather than toys in cardboard boxes which can easily be damaged, all the pieces stick inside so less likely to lose the small parts.

We’ve really enjoyed testing out these games whilst travelling about and just having family time chilling having fun.

So if you are after some screen free family time and want games to take anywhere, it is worth checking out these items.
