This is an excellent garment
Firstly, it is the perfect fit
The fitting guide was the best I have seen – so many helpful questions about size and shape- ensuring the best fit possible
All the ladies’ jackets are the full range of standard sizes from XS to XL and the men’s jackets come in a range of S to 2XL
There are a good range of colours
The one I was given to review came in jade with a contrasting darker green lining and zips
It is very attractive
It has two outer zipped pockets and two inner pockets
The front of the hood is elasticated for a snug fit
It has lovely long sleeves
The bottom hem has a toggle adjustment to draw it in and the excess cord is pulled into the pockets so that it does not hang down unattractively
And very importantly, it really is extremely comfortable
The tailoring is very good and so it hangs well on the body

It is extremely lightweight. This can be rolled up and packed into any bag or suitcase very easily indeed. I treated it with disrespect and stuffed it into a bag without rolling or folding it neatly – when I took it out it simply sprung back perfectly into shape.
I would have liked to have had the opportunity to test it in all weathers, and normally in our wonderful country that would not have been a problem! But this turned out to be a warm and mild week with no significant rain here – isn’t that just typical!
It does say that the fibres are hydrophobic and therefore dry more quickly – and I agree that this garment would be ideal for intense activities all year round.
It feels lighter and warmer than any other similar jacket I have had. It says that the lifaloft insulation structure creates more pockets of trapped air which is why it is warmer.

It can be worn just as it is, or in colder weather used as an insulation layer with a further rain jacket on the top.
The HELLY HANSEN Company began in Norway in 1877, and says it has since provided professional grade clothing to suit all conditions including the harshest. A friend of mine runs a ski resort in southern France and is very positive about their products.
It is good to know that this is a ‘blue sign’ product. This means that it is produced with the highest level of safety, and with a minimum impact on people and the environment, and also that it uses a responsible use of resources. It’s also impregnated with DWR for insulation which is better for the environment then PFC. So it gives you a nice feeling to know that the clothing you are wearing is not produced in a way that adversely affects our environment.
It also came well packaged and was attractive to open – always a nice start to owning something new.
Altogether this is an excellent product which I would thoroughly recommend.
It will be a ‘go to’ garment for many years to come.
