I am delighted to be able to receive Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Spring Basket to review. My two daughters are big fans of the whole Hatchimal range and enjoyed many an hour playing with the different hatchimals in their collections. They were over the moon to be able to play with the Spring Basket as it is something a little different to the ones they have received in the past.
The Hatchimals Spring basket is the perfect gift or extra surprise from the Easter bunny for children (over the age of 5) as it is so bright, cheerful and fits perfectly for this time of year, because of the eggs!
The spring basket itself is a pink and yellow plastic basket. It has pretty moulded flowers around the rim and a decorative rose and bow detail to the handle, which is highlighted with yellow. The base is covered by card packaging giving the usual product details and safety warnings.
Inside the basket, secured into place with a clear packaging are the Hatchimals. In this pack you get four eggs and two Hatchimals which are already ‘hatched’. Using the enclosed mini collectors guide my daughters were initially able to work out their already ‘hatched’ Hatchimals are called ‘Just hatched’ Hummingbear and Duckie. These presented the usual high standard of decoration we have come to expect from the Hatchimal ranges. Bright, colourful, matt and shiny areas with, in this case pretty pink, glitter wings. The glitter wings being unique to Hatchimal as this indicates how ‘rare’ the Hatchimal is – this is a big deal with my daughters!
As well at the ‘hatched’ Hatchimals there are four fun hatched ones. These ones are particularly prettily decorated and definitely Easter / spring themed! Two showed off geometric zig zag patterns whilst the other two had more floral patterns. My daughters took two eggs each and eagerly opened them.
Inside the eggs were the other cute critters that were shown on the collectors guide. To open the eggs you ‘warm them up’ by rubbing the top parts. With a gentle push the softer plastic shell at the top breaks open to reveal the surprise hatchimal inside. What you’re then able to do with the shell is break away the softer plastic part at the top to reveal a harder plastic part at the bottom. This part has a cute wavy top to it and looks brilliant as a little bed for the Hatchimals to sit in! My daughters use this as a prop when playing with their Hatchimal collection. What is great about this set is they now have an extra play prop – the basket!
The extra hatchimals relieved from the eggs are just as well throughout at the already hatched ones. My youngest daughter particularly liked ‘Spring Bunwee’ as it has a pretty gold, metallic effect to it. The biggest excitement came however when the ‘Pet Cat’, ‘Pet Lamb’ and ‘Pet Bunny’ were hatched. These were all in the same egg as they are particularly tiny and ‘cute’. The added bonus with these ones is that they are not shiny plastic, they have a soft furry covering over them. Making them stand out! Whilst playing the bigger Hatchimals looked after these ‘pets’ in the egg shell bases and in the basket.
Over all these were a huge hit. A great addition to an existing Hatchimal collection or a great way to start a collection off!
