Girl Most Likely is a romantic comedy is about playwright whose career has gone south due to a lack of confidence.
Imogene (Kristen Wiig) is a drama queen, ex-playwright now working for a magazine. After she gets dumped by her boyfriend and loses her magazine job she tries to win back her boyfriend by pretending to commit suicide. When she is found in a deep sleep by her friend with a suicide note beside her she is admitted to the psychiatric ward of the local hospital.
Due to overcrowding at the hospital she is released into her mother’s care, Zelda (Annette Bening), for 72 hours. Zelda has a gambling problem and lives with her “CIA” boyfriend, George Bousche (Matt Dillion) and Imogene’s odd younger brother. She has also rented out Imogene’s old bedroom to a tribute band singer.
Desperate to get back on top and move back to New York she will need the help of her family.
Overall, Girl Most Likely is an OK film with some comedic moments. Performances from Matt Dillion as The Bousche and Annette Bening as Zelda were great and Kristen Wiig as the over dramatic women forced to deal with everything she hates about her life was excellent but the story falls a bit flat and the jokes are a bit thin.
Rating: 3/5
