Father Christmas Comes Up Trumps by Nicholas Allan (the creator of Father Christmas Needs A Wee) is bright and colourful, perfect for getting young children’s attention. The book is well illustrated with lots of big imaginative pictures and not too many words on each page for a child to get bored.

The story is fun and upbeat with lots of rhyming sentences and sound words to keep a child entertained – Father Christmas is trying to deliver all his presents as quietly as he can but has had a bellyful of sprouts! Personally I don’t like that the book has used the word “fart” in the book as it’s not a word I would encourage a child to use. However, target parents buying the book are probably less likely to mind this.

I would recommend this to other parents as the book is good quality and an interesting and entertaining read. It is also fairly priced and a good stocking filler.
