Frankie & Benny’s New Breakfast Menu Bury The Rock Review

Reviewed by Michelle Wright
As a busy mum of a 15 month old and a 9 year old the thought of someone else not only cooking breakfast but also washing up afterwards seemed like heaven to me!
So we bundled ourselves into the car on a snowy and very cold blistery Saturday morning and headed off to Frankie & Benny’s at the Rock, Bury to try out their new breakfast menu!
There were already a few people already in the restaurant when we arrived for our 9am booking – certainly a good sign.
We sat down and our server, Ruben brought out a high chair for my son and a colouring sticker pack for my daughter – great to keep her entertained for a short while.
As we studied the menu, there were so many items to get our taste buds watering… it was a difficult decision to make! My daughter loves pancakes, so although this was on the adults menu rather than the children’s we said she could have it. My husband and I both ordered Eggs Benedict and we ordered a children’s breakfast for my son.
Our drinks orders arrived first and whilst we waited, we chatted to our daughter about breakfasts in New York and in particular the area of Little Italy on which Frankie & Benny’s takes inspiration. Whilst we chatted, music from the film dirty dancing was playing and I saw more than one customer singing away to it – it was a lovely atmosphere whilst we watched the snow fall outside! The restaurant was beginning to get busier and people were chatting and laughing whilst the waiters busily seated and served.
In no time at all our food was ready and delivered to our table! The portions were generous. My sons children’s breakfast consisted of bacon, sausages, beans and egg and we ordered an additional side order of toast. It was more than enough food for him – and he did very well eating it. The size of the portion would easily have suited an older child too, and with a drink included, I thought it was very good value for £3.95.
As mentioned, my daughter’s choice was actually from the adult’s selection, and so the size of the portion matched that! She had the bacon and syrup stack… three pancakes served with bacon and drizzled with maple syrup flavour… she did a sterling job at tackling this delicious breakfast, and to be fair devoured most of it.
Both my husband and I chose Eggs Benedict… toasted muffins, topped with poached eggs and drizzled with hollandaise sauce, served with bacon – heaven! Although I have had numerous attempts of making this at home, they have always been a disaster, so on the rare occasion I have breakfast out, this is always my choice – and it didn’t disappoint!
The adult’s breakfasts were all £5.95 each – I think this is really good value as the food was fresh, served hot and was extremely delicious! Even our hot drinks (£1.95) were refillable, so all in all I would say extremely good value for money!
We really enjoyed our Saturday morning breakfast treat. It isn’t something we would do on a regular basis but next time we do, we will certainly be going back to Frankie & Benny’s!
