This musical was a true likeness to the film. Two celebrities formed part of the cast members, Gareth Gates and Maureen Nolan. In total, there was just 18 cast members and they put on one amazing performance. Each and every cast member was multi-talented, they sang, danced, played musical instruments as well as acting. The stages sets were well thought out and changed frequently. There were also a few costumes changes, these were seamless.
The storyline was acted out well. I thought it was good that Gareth did not take the main part as Wren. He played the part of Willard and he was extremely funny. He had the audience in stitches, like lots of laughter howling. I found the whole cast a delight to watch. Throughout the performance I could not my eyes off the stage. The performance flowed well and was so captivating. The music and dancing was fantastic. Wow, what a six pack Gareth Gates has. Once the shirt came off my temperature rose, then again that may have been because it was a warm evening ha ha.
I would definitely encourage everyone to the theatre to watch this performance. It is the best thing which I have seen for quite a while.
Buxton has a small stage area. However, this did not hamper the performance and anyway. What an awesome performance. Well done all, best night my husband and I have had in a long time – truly uplifting and a feel-good performance. In it comes to your area get the tickets brought you will not be disappointed.
Buxton is a lovely old-fashioned theatre exquisite architecture. The refreshments offered are reasonable and there is a wide choice. Plenty of well signposted toilets.
