We visited Folly Farm Adventure Park in Pembrokeshire, on Good Friday 2016, there is ample onsite parking. We arrived late morning although there were lots of other people arriving there were no huge queues or chaos, as there was an employee standing between the two entrances directing people, so entry was quick and trouble free.
The first thing I noticed about the park was how clean the park was, there was no litter and the toilets looked and smelt really clean. The staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful, and all the food outlets were well presented and again spotlessly clean.
I noticed the parks commitment to fundraising and helping children and families from Ty Hafan, a children’s hospice in Wales. I like seeing a company with a robust CSR policy in place, as it shows an overall caring ethos.
Darla was keen to visit the zoo first, and was visibly excited, the teen and pre-teen were not so enthusiastic until they saw the beautiful animals. I noticed the main demographic of visitors was parents with young children, but having taken these grumpy older ones I can recommend this attraction for all ages, there is something for everyone.
These stunning creatures were a joint favourite for us all.
There was educational information on posters, which again showed the caring ethos, I liked the way the ugly truth was portrayed for children to learn about the evil of poachers and hopefully commit to helping in the conservation of the animals, rather than just sweet coating to keep the customers happy.
I was very proud that all 3 children donated without prompting.
We spent a very long time admiring the gorgeous animals, I think we could have spent the whole day just looking at them. I was very impressed how clean the animal area was, you have to be seriously committed to keep it that clean, I have been to lots of zoos and safari parks, but never seen one this clean.
So cute the baby having lunch.
The Lions are just incredible; the children were truly in awe of them.
The children loved measuring themselves up again the animals.
The penguin’s water looked so clean and inviting, we enjoyed watching them swimming around.
Time for a break we went into the coffee shop for a drink and some delicious cake, the prices in the park are very reasonable, everything is well presented and again all food areas are spotlessly clean.
I totally recommend the carrot cake.
We moved onto the indoor fair, wow it’s like being transported back to childhood, all the fun of the old fashioned fair and great for all weather. The prices are extremely reasonable, £1 for a bumper car, so that’s 50p each when 2 children ride, I think these prices again reflect the caring ethos of the park, it’s very refreshing to be at a funfair where the children can ride whatever they want without breaking the bank.
We moved into the barn, where all the farm animals are kept. Darla insisted she was a Welsh pony when in fact she’s a miniature.
All the children were again in awe of the animals.
Even the teen enjoyed interacting with the animals.
It was nice to see the baby chicks under the lamp so the children could see the development.
All the animals look well fed and healthy and the barn was spotlessly clean.
Darla had her face painted by a friendly lady, which cost a reasonable ÂŁ3.
There are several play areas for the children to have some fun and let off some steam while the parents sit down and recharge their batteries.
We finished off with a tractor ride at the piggery.
Folly Farm is a fantastic day out for the whole family, I would recommend going for a full day, as there is so much to see and do. There are several food outlets with reasonable prices and tasty food.
