After an extremely busy morning a friend and I went for lunch at the Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Pop-Up restaurant in the John Lewis store on Oxford Street, London. A four day taster menu situated on the third floor in John Lewis’ bistro.

They’re there to celebrate their  10thanniversary and the arrival of their new product range which is exclusive to John Lewis.

Before having a superb meal we spoke to some of the staff , organisers and the young and enthusiastic graduate chefs produced from this wonderful foundation. A lot of hard work and continued support from all staff members and Jamie himself have gone into this helping under privileged kids get a start that they deserve.

The menu is simple with a couple of choices for starters, main and dessert but what we had was delightful and I would recommend to anyone. My friend and I choose the Prosciutto di Parma with buffalo mozzarella, toasted pine nuts, mixed micro salad with extra virgin olive oil. The buffalo mozzarella was superb, an extremely fresh and flavoursome starter. We followed with different main courses, Jules had the baked fillet of salmon (which was huge) with dressed puy lentils which were cooked to perfection, artichokes, herbs and lemon aioli and she loved it. I had the pan roasted chicken with slow braised chickpeas ”inzimino”, Swiss chard, olives and a great fresh tasting salsa verde. Being ladies we shared dessert of a baked chocolate tart with honey comb ice-cream which was delicious.

Overall we had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend. 50% of the profits from the meals sold are donated to the Better Food Foundation formally known as the Jamie Oliver Foundation so your money is going to a great cause.

The Fifteen Pop-Up restaurant is only at the John Lewis Oxford Street store in London until Friday 28 September so get down there and try it for yourself.
