Emilys Cocktail Bar Warrington Review

Reviewed by Jan Mellor
Located in the centre of Warrington (2 Springfield St, Warrington, WA1 1BB), just a short walk from the Parr Hall and Pyramid theatres is a chic, friendly bar that serves an amazing array of reasonably-priced cocktails, gins and non-alcoholic drinks to meet a variety of tastes.
I was attending one of the ‘Cocktail master classes’ that was run by the very talented Yani (cocktail maker extraordinaire) who enabled me and my mum to learn and experience how to make 4 different types of amazing cocktails. Emilys hold these events throughout the year and they give a great insight into the ‘secrets’ of making truly wonderful cocktails. I don’t usually drink cocktails however after tasting the cocktails we made – a ‘Cosmopolitan’ (a little fruity drink) a ‘French Martini ‘(a luscious drink served with a flower petal) ‘Sex on the beach’ (an exotic concoction), a ‘Long-Island iced tea’ (a powerful innocent -looking drink) and my favourite an ‘Amaretto Twist’ (a sharp, punchy number) made of Amaretto, Gin, Passionfruit and Campari – I was sold!
The bar serves (at the table and not the bar – which is lovely) 20 types of cocktails with some cocktails on offer for 2 for £10. There was a choice of 28 types of gin, with beers, ciders, mocktails and tea/coffee on offer as well. The bar has been open just over 12 months and although at present the bar (open 7 days a week from mid-day to midnight and 1am weekends) only serves drinks but there are plans for the bar to extend to offer food soon. The bar has a lively, cosmopolitan feel and cosy yet flamboyant ambiance about it and the staff are friendly, enthusiastic and passionate. When we visited, the sun was shining, and it was lovely to sit outside on the newly-laid pedestrian sidewalk and sip our wonderful cocktails. Adjacent to Emily’s is the delightful Chinese restaurant ‘Mr Lau’s’ that is also owned by Emily’s manager Pamela Lau and so it is very easy to have a cocktail followed by fabulous Chinese food to experience an evening of culinary delight that would be ideal for special occasions or just when you felt like spoiling yourself and/or your family/friends.
The bar is a wonderful meeting place and would be a wonderful way to start or end an evening at the theatre and would be (like for me) an entertaining and enjoyable way to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
Lovely cocktails! Lovely people! A lovely way to spend time in the afternoon or evening in Warrington.
A wonderful experience!
