Dust and Things is a small business based in the UK, starting out just a few years ago in 2013 in a spare bedroom with nothing but a laser engraver and the dream of creating gorgeous bespoke items that people would keep forever. They have since grown to offer a vast range of quality items and have attained award nominations and accolades from renowned online retailers and institutions.
The beautiful oak picture frame I am reviewing is personalised with your choice of wording, although the suggestion is a simple ‘The (insert surname) Family’, which is exactly what I wanted, but I did add a cute kiss (x) either side of the word Family. It was delivered very quickly and they offer free Worldwide delivery, which is impressive considering most small businesses will add quite a bit onto the initial cost to cover delivery. Perhaps this is taken into consideration when pricing their products, but it is definitely refreshing for once not to find a hefty delivery cost added at the checkout.
The frame came well-packaged in a cleverly folded and sealed flat card box, very well fitted, so it couldn’t move around and clearly strong, so corners couldn’t be damaged either. In fact considering my husband works in packaging, I have an appreciation for such attention to detail to ensure safe transit. It was also very heavy, an indication of the lovely real Oak frame contained within.
I was simply thrilled at the craftsmanship of not only the perfectly engraved lettering, but also the stunning frame itself. It is extremely well finished, a little thing of beauty! It holds a 6” x 4” photo, so perfect to display on a shelf or desk. I must confess to not being very discerning in the past when purchasing photo frames, probably because I buy them rather frequently from high-street shops – I’ve just counted 31 of varying sizes in the living room around me! However this frame may well be the nicest I have ever owned, obviously wisely sourced by the company for its quality.
Although this photo frame is a fairly indulgent purchase at £24.95, this includes the aforementioned free postage and for something so well made, it is worth the expense, particularly as a present for a friend or loved-one, this is something they will certainly cherish. It really is a one-off keepsake that will be in our home forever. I would absolutely recommend this, and indeed any of their other lovely personalised engraved items, to someone who wants an individual gift that will be treasured for years to come.
