5-10 May 2014
My wife and I both remember the music of the late 50’s & 60’s and just love to sing along to it and were very excited to be asked to go along and see Dreamboats and Petticoats at the Pavilion Theatre in Bournemouth. If you love the music of the rock ‘n roll era and that is your kind of fun then this is the show for you. Featuring tracks from great, well-known artists such as Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochran, The Shadows, Billy Fury and many more.
Dreamboats and Petticoats is inspired by seven smash hit multi-million selling albums of the same name. The stage version is set in Essex in 1961 where 2 young musicians, Bobby and Norman are competing in a national song writing competition while at the same time competing for the affections of a young lady, Sue. Until Laura changes from a geeky schoolgirl to a beautiful young woman.
All the performers were brilliant and the vocals were excellent, the clothes, mannerisms and even the haircuts bring back memories.
Dreamboats and Petticoats is a great feel good musical that will have the audience of all ages up on their feet dancing and singing along. Although the songs are from the 60’s the younger audience members will still know a few of them and even if they don’t the show if fun and entertaining for the whole family. With classic tracks such as C’mon Everybody, Let’s Twist Again, Let’s Dance, Bobby’s Girl, Only Sixteen, Runaround Sue, Happy Birthday Sweet 16, Great Pretender and many more you will be dancing in aisles.
If you like to sing along as well as get up and jig about then this is definitely the show for you. We had a lovely evening being transported back to our youth.
Tickets cost from £17.20 to £31.18 (plus booking fee).
