Do Elephants Pray? Is a film about a man trying to find himself and starts with a naked man running through a forest

Callum (Jonnie Hurn) is an advertising executive bored with life and has thoughts of suicide until one day in the park he meets Malika (Julie Dray), a free-spirited French woman, whose identity he must keep a secret.

While intrigued and slowly falling for Malika she persuades him to travel to France for a few days hiking and camping to find a lake that legend has it changes people with the aim to free himself from everyday life and troubles so he can get to know himself and be free. With Malika his life starts to change for the better. She is teaching him to look at the world in a different way.

Overall I found this a very strange film. While very well-acted and fairly enjoyable I was left at the end still wondering what had happened, maybe I just didn’t understand the full meaning of the film but it certainly does get you thinking about the way people live their lives.

I can’t say it was a bad film but then I can’t say it’s a good film, it is one of them films where you have to see it to relate to and make up your own mind. I may have to watch it again to make up my mind either way.

Rating: 3/5
