On 30th of October I took my two girls (4 and 7 year old) to The Lowry, Salford Quays in Manchester. We went to see the show ‘Dinosaur Zoo Live’. A friend of mine has dropped us there, so we did not need to worry about the car park, but, I believe, I would not have any problem with parking, because Lowry Shopping Centre is just right there and it has multi-storey car park. After the show we took Tram to go home. It is just 2 minutes walking distance from The Lawry entrance.
The theatre itself was nice, clean and cosy, just the way theatre should be. It has all required facilities, seats with little tables in the hall, where you could have some refreshments. We did not try any (so I cannot comment on their quality) because the girls were more interested in visiting the play area on 1st floor. Kids can play with LEGO, do some drawing, or just read a book. Even little ones would find some games over there. We have visited toilets just before the show. I have found it was clean and spacious.
We have collected our tickets at reception before the show. The lady at the reception has found our tickets very quickly and showed the way we should go.
The stage was decorated much and did not look impressive. The atmosphere changed very quickly once the guy, leading the show, came out and started it (do not remember his name, sorry). Right away he started interacting with children in audience (and not only children, he got some grownups involved as well). And it happened not only once. During the show children were going on and off the stage. I thought that some of the children were a little bit too small, just 3 or 4 year old. But it is just my personal opinion.
He explained that we will see not real dinosaurs (they are extinct after all). He asked some serious questions about dinosaurs, told some new facts. What I liked the most, he always was at children’s mind level. We saw some baby dinosaurs, medium size and one enormous (only his head and neck could fit on the stage). I loved the show myself. But there was another BIG SUPRISE after the show. We met 2 baby dinosaurs and one medium size. They were very friendly. I, even, took a video with my phone. My girls were ‘over the moon’ after meeting and touching them! ‘It was awesome!’-shouted my 7 years old girl after the show. My 4 year old girl has created a new word putting together ‘amazing’ and ‘awesome’ together! It came out something like ‘amasome’. I can really recommend this show and I can give 5 points of satisfaction.
Dinosaurs always catch our imagination. This show did great job to keep that imagination running in children’s minds and educating them as well. On the way home, in the Tram, my girls have decided they want to go back to see this show again.
