Yesterday afternoon I took my dinosaur loving little boy who is five down to the Hawth theatre in Crawley to see Dinosaur World Live, which has been hailed as a spectacular interactive show and sounded like a right treat for my boy. **** (editor’s note – name removed) (my son) like most boys around his age is truly mesmerised by dinosaurs so he couldn’t wait to see this show ,and when we arrived it was buzzing with lots of excited kids all eager to watch the show.
The show and start is introduced by an intrepid explorer who is exploring across uncharted territories to Discover a whole host of dinosaurs including everyone’s favourite the mighty T-Rex. I’m pretty sure but forgive me if I’m wrong but the lady leading the show was called Miranda who was always very interactive with the kids, encouraging them to shout out and join in in various places, and I like the way she was always clear and explained some fun facts about each dinosaur that came out. The dinosaurs were actually incredibly life like and absolutely huge. It was also very obvious that they were controlled by people but this probably helped the kids not be scared by them. The people operating the dinosaurs did such a fabulous job and the way they moved the dinosaurs were so lifelike. The show was 50 minutes long and without an interval and this seem to be the perfect length of time and seem to hold the attention of all the kids easily. At the end there was a chance to meet a baby dinosaur and have a little stroke. This was all very well organised and was done row by row and was all very civilised. my boy loved getting a chance to get up close and I thought it was a great way to end the show. I think it perfectly suited the kids between three and seven or dinosaur loving kids of all ages and is a great family outing.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to the Hawth theatre and I’m pleased to say it was a great visit as it’s always been. I’ve always found staff to be very polite and helpful and I love the fact that there is free parking and plenty of it. I also find wherever you sit in the theatre you always have a good view of the stage. We bought some drinks and snacks from inside before the show and found the prices to be very reasonable. We also bought a dinosaur pincer toy for £6 after the show. I was very grateful not to see extortionate prices as you find in some places these days. The Hawth have such a variety of shows to suit everybody. It’s well worth a visit and is one of my favourite theatres and I hope to be back soon to see something else.
