Advertised as the first WiFi 6 powerline adapter in the world!

I couldn’t wait for this to arrive after been chosen to review it, our internet connection continually drops and the strength is really poor even after trying various internet providers and numerous Wi-Fi boosters to try to increase the strength and reliability of our internet with no success. Therefore very eager to try but rather sceptical that this would make any difference.

The multi room kit was speedily delivered, with the product packaging enclosed safely within a flip top cardboard box.

Firstly what is Wi-Fi 6?
The current 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard – or Wi-Fi 6 for short – brings improvements in speed, efficiency and security. Installation! (It’s extremely easy!!)

• Firstly download the devolo app – this was really easy and quick to do.
• Plug in the devolo MAGIC 2 LAN Adapter and connect the Ethernet cable (supplied) to your wireless router.
• The adapters need to be plugged directly into a wall socket and not and extension.
• Plug in the devolo MAGIC 2 WI-FI next Adapter or Adapters if you have more than one into nearby sockets whilst doing the set up. The led lights flash orange until they have connected.
• Then you just wait, once the white flashing lights become solid you are all set up.

Unplug the Wi-Fi adapters and plug them into the sockets in the rooms you require, I plugged one into the stair landing and one into our bedroom directly into wall sockets. All the adapters have the ability to have other items plugged into them which is a really handy feature so you don’t loose out on plug space. You can also connect laptops or other items straight to the adapters with additional Ethernet cables (not supplied).

I had a play around with the app and found that if you go into the app settings – Wi-Fi settings – then set the password to the same as your existing Wi-Fi network, this then enables you to continue using the same network name and password all around your home. (You then don’t have to use the passwords supplied on the back of each adapter)
You then reconnect each of your devices tv, Xbox, printers etc but with been able to use the same network name and password this is really quick and easy to do.

Once you have joined your devices via your usual network name and password your devices automatically pick up the nearest devolo magic plug and connect, you can view each Wi-Fi adapter through the app to see how many devices have connected to that particular adapter.

We saw straight away that connection was stronger, the tv usually says 82% connection it now says 100%. Xbox usually 45% now says 100%.

After using over a few days we have not lost signal anywhere in the house, so we can really see the difference this system has made.

I usually have problems connecting smart plugs so I dug these out from the back of the cupboard they were thrown in after I had stood hours trying to connect them and had given up, thought this would be another great test I could do to check reliability and strength of the devolo adapters and I wasn’t disappointed, they were found and connected within in minutes.

This product works great within the home especially as nowadays there are more and more devices we use which require wireless connectivity. But it would be ideal for people who have a home office and require reliable connectivity for work and would also work within a working environment especially as you can add additional Wi-Fi adapters to the system.

I am very pleased with this system and can see why it has a high end price, like the saying goes you do get what you pay for and this shows with the excellent reliability and the simplicity of the set up of the devolo Magic 2 Wi-Fi 6 multi room kit.
