Deichmann is Europe’s largest shoe retailer, and sells many different styles of shoes for women, men, and children. This store moved to our local high street a couple of years ago, and we have visited it many times as we feel they sell good quality, great styles, all at affordable prices. Therefore, it only made sense that with my youngest starting school, that we should look at their ‘back to school’ range. In the past I have shopped at Clarks for my older children’s school shoes, but with 3 children it has become too expensive to continue with this, so we needed to look elsewhere, still needing quality but at a more reasonable rate.
Rather than visiting the store this time, I chose to shop online, picking a style from their website (Memphis one – 1 414 2150), and ordering them from here. There’s a free printable foot gauge available to download from the website, making it easy to find the right size for your child without having to drag them to the shop – which is no fun for any parent! It was very easy to use and there was great customer service, with the shoes arriving the next day. They came in a grey plastic bag (unfortunate that it was plastic, but understandable when ordering online to keep them safe in transit), with a green box inside with the shoes wrapped in paper and protected very well.
Our first impressions of these shoes has been very good. My son likes the look of them as they are very smart, and they have two Velcro fasteners on top making it easy at the age of 4 to take them on and off himself. They have sturdy soles, fit well, and look great for his first day at school in September – now I just need to stop him from playing football in them before he starts! They have memory foam insoles that feel very comfy and soft to touch, and some mesh design on parts which presumably help with the fact they are antimicrobial. I’m hoping this will keep his feet fresh throughout the school day and journeys. After seeing how my older son treats shoes, I am also very happy that these come with a scuff resistant upper, making them practical for a young boy. Whilst we can obviously not attest to the longevity of these shoes, we are very happy with them at the outset and hope they will last him well.
Deichmann also has a price promise, so that if you find the same shoe elsewhere, they will refund you plus an extra £1, giving us confidence that we are getting the best possible price. Deichmann also sells school bags, backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles and other back to school essentials, meaning you can do a lot of your shopping all in one place.
Overall, we are very happy with these shoes and will be using Deichmann again, not just for school shoes, but for their trainers too – along with some more new shoes for me!
