Kate (Halle Berry) is a marine biologist and a free diving, shark expert. While making a film about sharks a fellow diver is killed by one. Haunted by memories of the attack she gives up diving with sharks. With her business in Cape Town, South Africa failing and the bank threatening to reprocess her boat and assets she is in desperate need of more customers for her whale, seals and penguins sight-seeing marine boat tours.

Her estranged husband (Oliver Martinez) reappears after a year with a job offer from a thrill seeking businessman. The money offered will help her save her boat and pay the bills. William Brady (Ralph Brady), an obnoxious London businessman, wants her to lead a free dive with Great White Sharks… outside the cage. She reluctantly agrees to meet him and agrees to the dive for 100,000 Euros for 1 dive.

The dive is the start of a journey into Hell and survival.

Overall, as shark movies go this was OK. With a good, strong cast and fantastic scenery of the underwater scenes, sharks, seals and dolphins. While it got off to a promising start with a decent storyline I found it a little bit tedious and not enough action for my liking but maybe I expected to be more of a horror film than a thriller.

Rating: 4/5
