Dance is an amateur production from the dance students of Cross Currents 2016 of Performance Arts Studio Scotland (PASS). The cast of young dancers took inspiration from the history of the 70th Tony Awards ceremony which is celebrating by opening the show with a glamorous glitzy red carpet entrance.

The cast performed a varied choreography from intense to lighthearted while taking from other stories and shows. This was accompanied by an equally varied excellent choice of music and talk overs. Covering various decades and genres from Broadway to current pop that the dancers performed all types of dance to. With even some fabulous mash ups thrown in.

There were costume changes for almost every number from simple to elegant and glitzy but as with the music and choreography kept you intrigued with what was coming next.

The large cast was full of promising young talent of the future that varied with experience but consisted a number of dancers that will no doubt be stars of tomorrow.

The audience was full of friends and family, young and old that were cheering the dancers on throughout which made the evening so much fun.

The King’s is a traditional small theatre with a welcoming warm atmosphere and ambiance. It is very comfortable and clean with extremely helpful, friendly staff. Our seats in the stalls provided an excellent view of the stage. The theatre is located in the heart of Edinburgh City Centre, so easily accessible by public transport with parking available around the theatre. There is also plenty of option for pre/post theatre drinks and food with the variety of restaurants and bars nearby.

I had a great evening watching these young dancers and would definitely recommend the production to friends and family. Energetic and entertaining.
