If you have little ones and a television in your household you have probably happened upon CoComelon. My two year old granddaughter absolutely loves watching it and dancing and joining in with the singing, so being offered the chance to review the Musical Plush Book was a perfect opportunity.
If you’ve not heard of CoComelon it’s a programme to entertain and educate toddlers and pre-school children with JJ being the lead character. A look at their website gives lots of information and includes “In CoComelon JJ and his siblings go on fun relatable adventures – they go to nursery, play, explore and learn. The beautiful 3D animation and toe-tapping songs tell tales of activities that young children all over the world will recognize. In addition to helping pre-schoolers learn letters, numbers, animal sounds, colors, and more, the videos impart prosocial life lessons, providing parents with an opportunity to teach and play with their children as they watch together”.
The Musical Plush book is packaged in a brightly coloured cardboard box which has an open front so the book is clearly on show and a button can be pressed to try out a sample of the the music before you buy. The book is held in the box with cable ties of industrial strength which required sturdy scissors to cut them. My granddaughter was so excited when she saw the book and wasted no time before she started to turn the pages.
The book measures 17.8cm x 5.2cm x 19.7cm and is made from a soft but durable fabric which is lightly padded between the pages to give them substance. It requires a button cell battery to operate which is housed in the book spine. Each page is brightly coloured and depicts the CoComelon characters. The front cover of the book has a pocket which holds a fabric JJ figure attached by a material cord. The idea is that JJ moves through the book as the child progresses and there are pockets on the pages for him to be placed in. The book has buttons on the pages to press to play the songs. There are five nursery rhymes, Old MacDonald, Yes Yes Vegetables, Yes Yes Bedtime, The Thank you Song and The Bath Song.
My granddaughter knew exactly what to do with JJ and very quickly took him from page to page as she turned pages and pointed at the characters she recognised from watching CoComelon on television. She instantly spotted the buttons and knew how to press them to play the tunes. She was delighted to hear her favourite tunes and we both enjoyed joining in when we knew the word. Old MacDonald was our favourite as she loved making the animal sounds. We shared lots of giggles during our play together. This book has instantly become her new favourite and she goes straight to it ignoring her previously preferred toys.
The CoComelon Musical Plush Book is ideal for little ones to enjoy their favourite characters but without the television and to spend some special one to one time with parents and grandparents. It is educational and entertaining and will provide hours of fun.
