I try to look after my skin. But I hold my hand up, I’m guilty of collapsing into bed without removing my make-up on a regular basis. I’m also guilty of not drinking enough water daily and yes I admit that my commitment to exfoliating regularly is more like a casual on-off relationship. So when I was asked to review the Clarol Sebopure duo pack my first reaction was – oh I definitely need that! When reading up on what these products claim to do, I learnt that this included preventing blockages by reducing the amount of sebum produced and tackling the bacteria that causes acne; I was looking forward to seeing the effect on my skin.
The Silver Birch and Exfoliating Wash came in a 75ml bottle and the ingredients include tea tree, grape seed oil extracts of coffee seed and white nettle. The exfoliating components are pumice stone and rice bran. The instructions state to work it into a lather and work it into the face for 2-3 minutes. The wash smells really nice and reminiscent of antiseptic (yes I like that smell!) and the granules are very fine. I’m glad they are natural granules as I personally hate the idea of using any containing plastic beads that can end up in the sea. I did as the instructions said, although it doesn’t actually produce a lather but does spread across the face very well. I really like the feeling of using it, it’s obvious that the exfoliating agents are really effective and in all honesty I don’t think I could have done this for 3 minutes as I could feel it working so well. Once done I rinsed and dried my face off. My skin felt really invigorated and slightly red as a result, it actually felt lovely.
I followed the exfoliation up with the Sebopure. This came in a 50ml bottle and contains a natural ingredient called Pixalia which claims to reduce excess sebum. The cream itself doesn’t have any scent that I could detect. It can be used in a couple of ways; on its own overnight or can be applied and left for 2 minutes before adding other products at the start of your day. I initially used it on its own overnight. It dried really well and doesn’t have a moisturising feel to it, but it wasn’t uncomfortable and I was happy to leave it on my skin overnight. I also tried it under my usual make-up and moisturiser and I found it soaked into the skin really well and didn’t add any additional oil or effect the look of my make-up. I did on one occasion apply my make-up straight over (I just happened to forget my moisturiser) but found this too dry, making my make-up look slightly flaky in places.
After a couple of days use, I inspected my skin closely. In all honesty, usually I do find it difficult to spot any differences with my skin when testing skin products for quite a while. But for this I can say that even after first use I noticed a difference. I have noticeably less blackheads and my skin just looks generally much clearer. I was really impressed with the products and I was even more impressed at the price.
RRP: At £21.95 for the pair, this is definitely a very reasonably price product for the results that you get. If you have a problem with oily skin and definitely for teenage skin this is the one weapon you need to help control the oil production and therefore prevent spots.

Rating: I’m happy to give this a 5/5 and love my new clearer looking skin – thanks Clarol!
