The Richard Onslow can be described in one word; Fantastic.

Visiting on a chilly Monday evening in December we were offered a very warm welcome and shown to our table in the beautifully decorated dining area. It's relaxed and informal environment is both relaxing and inviting and a great backdrop for a fantastic meal.

The varied menu ensures that there is something suited to everyone's taste and kids can have half a portion for half the price. All of the produce is fresh and is locally sourced where possible. The dishes are sensibly priced and are great value for money and there is also have weekly specials board to supplement their already satisfying menu.

Their wine list is also impressive with good wines to suit anyone's budget. The Richard Onslow also offers other alcoholic beverages at pub prices.

Our starters of Casterbridge Rare Bavette with a blue cheese and caramelised onion salad and crispy Halloumi with apricot, celery and walnut salad were full of flavour and very moorish. The main course I chose was the roast turkey dinner from the specials board. This was cooked to perfection with the accompanying roast potatoes, buttered kale and cabbage and bacon again flavoursome a filling. The other main course we ordered was the fillet of Seabass with dill gnocchi, chorizo, butternut purée and kale. The fish was beautifully moist and the dill gnocchi was a great accompaniment to the delicate Seabass.

Desert had a lot to live up to and both the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Baily's ice cream and the Pannecotta with Berry Compote lived up to our expectations. Again wonderful flavours and a good sized potion.

All in all a fantastic place to sit and have an intimate dinner for two or a meal with friends and the kids!

The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend visiting.
