Tonight I went out for a rare evening of relaxation, I have two small children and a limited amount of spare time, the combination of which means that night’s out are few and far between and subsequently I like to aim for quality in a bid to balance out the lack of quantity. This evening I went to The Yard in Alderley Edge, this is a little hidden diamond, the venue is gorgeous, plus it has a car park, which in Alderley Edge is something of gold dust.
I found the venue with ease hidden behind the main road in Alderley, it has a lovely ambiance to the place and opens as a café in the day and hosts events of an evening. There’s a lovely wood burner and warm drop down lights, making for a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. I was warmly greeted on arrival and promptly offered a drink, I had a prosecco and my friend had a fruit beer, which she raved about for a full hour, the prosecco was also pretty tasty.
The evening was very relaxed, we kicked off later than planned, but that was just fine by me, a little more relaxation and a chance to enjoy my surroundings at The Yard, as well as get to know Lindsey the Paint Nite host a little better. Lindsey was lovely, she was friendly and bubbly, just perfect for the audience, who she engaged with well and really got everyone geared up for painting.
Paints and canvases are provided, as well as brushes, so it really is just a turn up and put on the apron provided. The girls served drinks and nibbles throughout, the nibble platters were fabulous, healthy and tasty. We got started and given I think the last time I painted was at school other than DIY decorating, so I was feeling quite novice like, not to worry, the relaxed ambiance meant I could get into it and not worry about the end result too much.
Lindsey from Paint Nite played music and put on Christmas tunes, some sang along and everyone was very jolly, Lindsey can round and gave praise, it was really confidence boosting and regardless of whether the painting looked like a masterpiece or a mess at the end, the whole evening was loads of fun.
I would thoroughly recommend Paint Nite, as well as The Yard, its lovely café/shop looks like it’s definitely worth a visit, I’ll certainly be looking out for more events at the Yard, it’s a shame I can’t go on New Year, as this looks like it will be an amazing venue to bring in the New Year at!
