It’s the most wonderful time of the year … that’s what you think when you know it’s Pantomime season come December. We as a family are late to the Pantomime traditions, but we really are trying to make up for lost time. Tonight we took my youngest grandson (and his little lady friend!) with my daughter to watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the fairest Panto in the land at Milton Keynes Theatre. Even though we were running very late, we found a parking spot nice and close. No time for food and drink before the show, but there are lots of places to choose from if you have the time.

Honestly forget about your heating bill, the cost of living and any other woeful subject and grab your family and get along to the Panto. It’s the best thing I have done for weeks. At just 20 months we wasn’t sure if he was too young, but we needn’t have worried. We all know the Snow White story, but this is a story with a Panto twist. Lesley Joseph was sensational as Queen Dragonella, she stole the show either intentionally or unintentionally during the song 12 days of Christmas. Not sure if Rob Rinder was hyperventilating or trying not to wet himself, but it all made for great entertainment. Paul Chuckle (legend) as odd job and Aaron James as Muddles were also outstanding. Who doesn’t love the slapstick of Panto, they were for sure a dynamic duo and kept us adults laughing lots throughout the whole show.

Of course we can’t not mention Snow White herself, Charlotte Haines and Dale Mathurin Prince Harry of Haversham, the central characters surrounded by the mayhem of the rest of the cast.

You won’t stop laughing, jumping, clapping, singing from the moment you sit down. The set is colourful and the costumes gorgeous. Some of the numbers done together are just lovely and have a real Christmas feel. Idles riding his moped high above the audience a stand out moment for the children. It is quite simply everything and more that you want for a great evening of family entertainment. Life is far too serious just now, this is exactly what you need and won’t be disappointed if you go along to see these guys in stage. The seven dwarfs are very cleverly played, and the kids especially liked it when they all rode out on stage on a variety of animals.

The standout moment was the utter chaos of the 12 days of Christmas, staged or not it was hilarious. What a talented amazing set of actors and actresses who get to get up on stage every night until the 8th January and have the most fun on stage with all of us to watch and laugh with them. Bravo everyone it was everything the doctor ordered and more. If we can squeeze in another visit we will because we had the best time this evening, flipping snow tastic. Grab yourselves some tickets before the run ends, you won’t regret it!
