Browns Nottingham Royal Afternoon Tea Review
Royal Afternoon Tea
Nottingham

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Browns restaurant for their Royal Afternoon Tea. Browns is easy to find and is located just a few minutes walk from Nottingham city centre. Nottingham playhouse is very close by making this venue an ideal location for preshow refreshments.
The entrance area is attractive and of a classy appearance. The menu and prices are displayed on the outside wall within the sheltered entrance area. This allows you to have chance to decide if the venue is for you prior to entering the building. Believe me if you do decide to visit whether it be just for a quick coffee, snack or a three course meal you will not be disappointed!!!
Upon entering the building, if you just want a quick refreshment or bar snack you can veer to the left to the bar area. If you wish to visit this divine restaurant you would proceed to the welcoming restaurant desk/reception.
We were greeted at the desk by a friendly, most welcoming and polite member of staff. Who quickly sourced our reservation and proceeded to efficiently get us seated at our designated table.
The purpose of visit was to try their ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’. This afternoon tea has been introduced to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday, running through out June, and it incorporates a huge array of remarkable delicious treats, pure indulgence.
I feel this afternoon tea is well worth the charge of £17.95 per head. Here is a rundown of what was included:
ROYAL AFTERNOON TEA
A selection of butter brioche rolls:
smoked salmon with chive and lemon cream cheese
free range egg and baby watercress
a royal addition of Coronation chicken
Classically British home baked scones, one fruit and one plain with clotted cream and strawberry jam
Mini desserts
salted caramel profiterole
huge moist chocolate brownie
lemon & Earl Grey tea cake
Strawberry & Pimm’s jelly
Served with Browns’ British Royal Cocktail – Black Cow Vodka with Rosehip & Rhubarb cordial and apple, topped with Prosecco
Plus a lovely teapot of tea (we opted for Earl Grey)
I could not fault any part of the afternoon tea, the rolls were soft with tasty fillings. The desserts were fantastically naughty, the jelly was great and the Pimm’s hit the spot, the lemon cake just melted in the mouth, the chocolate brownie was the best I have ever eaten and the profiterole and scones were great too. Total class from a top quality chain. The afternoon tea was very well presented.
The British Royal cocktail featuring Black Cow Vodka was scrumptious, refreshing an absolute beauty. I may have to give this a go a home and try to recreate. I will also be attempting to make the jelly!!
The staff were well presented and with a co-ordinating dress code. This assisted in providing a professional image. All of the staff that we met were helpful, friendly, polite, professional and presentable. They regularly checked with all restaurant guests if they had a need for anything and if their choice of food was ok.
The menu prices are competitive for such a high class restaurant. The bar menu is very competitive. All of the food we saw come out to the tables looked and smelt delicious.
The venue itself is very classy, the decor is exquisite and it is light and airy. The coffee lounge looks cosy and the separate bar area also looks inviting. I took the opportunity to visit the lavatories these were extremely clean and tidy. With plenty of stock in items such as toilet paper, hand soap etc. There was no shortage of cubicles, this area offered plenty of space and mirrors to check your appearance/reapply your makeup etc. Delightful music played within the toilets too.
On the way back downstairs I spotted that the venue offered deals for special occasions such as graduations. The deal sounded lovely for that special day. It was £24.95 for three course plus a bottle of Prosecco. I feel this is value for money for such a quality place. I am sure if you visited for this kind of occasion you would not be disappointed.
Downstairs also offers easy accessible baby changing and disabled toilets.
On Sunday’s the venue is complete with the sound of a great pianist between the hours of 1pm until 4pm.
The venue is also complimented by an outdoor seating area with an array of flowers and greenery. This area also has candles, heaters and parasols. Again lovely to relaxing and wind away the summer days/evenings.
We have had the most delightful relaxing afternoon with top quality food. We will most definitely be visiting this exquisite venue when in Nottingham again. Truly remarkable!!!
I would rate this top class chain as 5 out of 5. If I could give a 10 out of 5 I would as I was so impressed. This chain and its staff is something to be proud of. Well done Browns.
