Browns Liverpool Royal Afternoon Tea Review
Royal Afternoon Tea
Liverpool

Having visited Browns Restaurant several times in the past for lunch I was really looking forward to the opportunity to sample their ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’.
Browns restaurant in Liverpool is located centrally within the Liverpool One development, which makes it the perfect spot for afternoon tea and shopping trip. The decor is smart and inviting. I am a wheelchair user and whilst it’s disappointing that the entire restaurant isn’t accessible to wheelchairs we were offered a choice of tables which was great. We chose to sit by the window and enjoyed watching the world go by as we ate.
The only real negative about the layout of the restaurant is that the heavy door and location of the disabled toilet made it very difficult to manoeuvre without help from another person.
Today we reviewed ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’ which was a special afternoon tea to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday and is available between 2:30 and 5:30pm until the end of June at a cost of £17.95 per person.
The afternoon tea included butter brioche rolls with a selection of smoked salmon with chive & lemon cream cheese, free range egg & baby watercress and coronation chicken. The sandwiches were simply beautiful with lovely fresh brioche and quality ingredients. My favourite had to be the egg & baby watercress. A choice of fruit or plain scones was available with thick clotted cream and strawberry jam. For desert there were salted caramel profiteroles, a red velvet cake, strawberry & Pimm’s jelly and lemon & Earl Grey cake which was a great twist on a classic.
It is difficult to choose stand out items from this Afternoon Tea as it was all such high quality and fresh. It was apparent that great thought had gone into producing a coherent menu fit for a Queen. The food itself was presented on a classic oval stand, but it wasn’t too obstructive that it prevented conversation or took up too much space.
In accompaniment to the food the Afternoon Tea was served with a cocktail called the ‘ The British Royal’ which was Black Cow Vodka with Rosehip & Rhubarb cordial & Apple topped with Prosecco & Garnished with blackberries. These were so delicious we ended up having two and would highly recommend as a Summer Cocktail.
The staff were excellent, our main server for the day was Gary who was extremely attentive without being overbearing, he really helped to add to the nice relaxing experience we had. We were also really impressed with the cleanliness of the linen and staff uniforms really stood out. From looking around the restaurant the Afternoon Tea was a popular choice and everyone seemed to be enjoying them and taking in the atmosphere.
I would highly recommend ‘The Royal Afternoon Tea’ and this restaurant in particular for quality food and excellent service.
Served daily throughout June from 2.30pm to 5pm, the Royal Afternoon Tea with a British Royal cocktail is £17.95 per person. For more information or to book a table visit www.browns-restaurants.co.uk.
