British Airways i360 Brighton Review

Reviewed by Jennifer Hopkinson

On Sunday 13th August 2017, myself and my little boy visited the beautiful city of Brighton. We made this a family day trip and spent the day on the beach, SEA LIFE centre and the magnificent British Airways i360.

British Airways i360 first opened in August 2016. The i360 is the world’s tallest moving observation tower and stands at 450 feet. Once at the top, you are able to see a full 360 degrees around the city of Brighton.

The trip takes a total of half an hour, from embarkation to disembarkation. I would advise you to pre book, as it can get very busy especially on a hot day. Once tickets have been purchased you need to ensure you arrive half an hour before your flight in order to pass through security and bag checks.

Once you have cleared security you are able to have souvenir photos taken on a green screen which can be collected after disembarkation in the gift shop. There is also a bar selling refreshments while you wait and look over the Brighton beach. Once the pod arrives at the bottom of the tower you are very quickly welcomed aboard. Staff were polite and courteous and the pod was clean and welcoming. We quickly got our place looking out towards the city of Brighton. People were boarded quickly and the flight was able to leave on time.

We travelled up to the highest point on the tower softly and quietly while walking around the deck to ensure that we could see a full 360 degrees. We had a clear and hot day and the views were magnificent. Once at the top you had a short time to take photos and really have a look around the whole city before starting your decent down. We felt that the only thing missing was a short explanation of what could be seen from the different sides of the pod.

The pod also had a bar with a small selection of drinks ranging from £10 upwards for a glass. These dinks included champagne, gin and tonic and bottles of water.

Once you have finished the decent you exit the pod directly into the gift shop. If you want to purchase photos you are able to buy a souvenir book with all photos in and some extra information about Brighton at a reasonable £20. There is also an exhibition about the design and workings of the i360.

Overall, this flight was really enjoyable and is worth it on a visit to Brighton. We rate it a 3 out of 5 stars.
