BRIO World Airport with Control Tower Review

Reviewed by David Savage

We love BRIO products in our house, especially toys that can link in with the wooden train sets. The twins are 5 years old and were delighted when the BRIO World Airport with Control Tower arrived for review. They love their wooden train sets and already have a BRIO World Police Station, Parking Garage and Rescue Train Set that link into the their wooden train tracks, creating their own little world.

The Brio World Airport with Control Tower comes with 7 pieces; an airport and control tower, a ramp, 2x figures, an aeroplane, luggage and flashing beacon. It is made from wood and plastic and suitable for age 3 years +.

The airport terminal features a control tower with removable roof so that you can place one of the figures inside to keep watch, a baggage handling system with lift (moves by turning the wheel on the control tower) and slide (boys love sliding the luggage down). It also has links to attach train track so that your BRIO (or compatible) trains and trams can stop right inside the terminal. It also has a battery operated flashing beacon that turns on with movement and turns itself off again (it requires 2xLR44 which come already supplied and installed – and for security you need a screwdriver to access the compartment, so inquisitive little minds can’t get to them).

And no airport would be complete without an aeroplane. It comes with a wheeled red aeroplane that measures approx. 7.5”/19cm long. It has an opening roof with 3 internal spaces to fit figures and luggage.

The two figures (baggage handler and pilot) bend and have movable arms so can easily be placed in the control tower or aeroplane.

Overall, the boys love it. It is very sturdy and easy to assemble and extremely good quality (after all it is standing up to 5-year-old twins boys fighting over who gets the aeroplane next). It is a fantastic playset that encourages imaginative play and is a great addition to the track, railway sets and other BRIO World items the boys already have.

The only downside for me is that they build such vast worlds that take over the whole room and seems a shame to put away each night.

The Brio World Airport with Control Tower is durable, well-made and wipes clean. Great as a stand-alone toy or an addition to wooden train sets.
