As all parents will know, weaning is a messy process so many items have been designed to make our lives easier during it. One of the most necessary items is a suitable bib, and many different brands now design these. Bibado is one of the most well known British brands and designed by a mother herself after struggling to find anything suitable on the market when weaning her own children. Bibabo is therefore designed with parents in mind and this family ethos is described to be carried out through the company’s work ethic. (Not especially product related but I loved the touch on their website of having childhood photos of each of the key players in the company, it certainly raised a smile and added some fun which is exactly what the company aim to help with- allowing parents to enjoy the adventures of raising small children).

I was sent one of the full sleeved weaning bibs which is what Bibabo are most well known for from my knowledge. The bibs are designed to not only cover your child but also the highchair, aiming to ensure the mess is contained as much as possible (with the added benefit of less wiping down of the highchair required post meal time). Designed for weaning and for crafts, the bib attaches to the high chair with adjustable straps to help ensure no mess escapes around the bib. I was pleased to see that the bib is suitable for most high chairs, and those with and without trays, making it very versatile and there being no need to ensure you have a compatible chair before purchasing. The bib is made from a 100% waterproof wipe clean material (PU coated polyester with silicone anti-slip grip). Crucially it is machine washable which is certainly a must. The thin nature of the material has been designed intentionally which means that it dries quickly, making it ready for the next use.

The bib is designed to be used on babies from 6 to 36 months so easily covering the weaning and most messy eating phase. It has cleverly been designed to take your child’s growth into account and has adjustable sleeve lengths (via the use of poppers on the side of the sleeves). I haven’t seen this feature in any other weaning bib and I liked this thoughtful addition.

The bib comes in 5 different designs, most of which are unisex in design. I received the artic design which is designed with pale blue, white and yellows. Initially I was concerned at the light colour choice of this design and therefore possible staining however I needn’t have worried as the fabric used is stain resistant which is great. The design is sweet, with a range of animals and forest designs on a striped background, complete with snowballs dotted about. A lovely wintery scene that can of course be used throughout the year.

The bib also comes in a short sleeved version, perfect for the hotter months or climates. This version comes in 4 different designs. Attachable weaning cutlery is also available (please see separate review) which works with both the long and short sleeve versions.

I would certainly recommend these as a Christmas (or indeed any other time!) purchase for your own child when coming up to weaning or as a gift for any new parents or parents to be as they are so functional yet would be lovely to receive. They are a bit more expensive than many other bibs on the market but the additional design features are accounted for within this and the designed longevity as your child grows means they should last for many years to come.
