We recently went out for a meal at The Warden Tavern in Luton. As we pulled into the car park, there were ample parking spaces available so we managed to park right outside the entrance. We were warmly welcomed as we entered the restaurant and quickly escorted to our table. The table was unsuitable as it was a booth and we had two small children with us, however, the staff member was quick to resolve this.

Once seated we were given menus and a colouring pack for the children and our waitress came over and took a drinks order. Helene was happy and friendly and brought over a balloon for each of our twins which helped entertain them.

Drinks arrived promptly and our food order was taken. We decided after ten minutes to add children's garlic bread to our order as the children were getting a little impatient. This also arrived promptly, soon followed by our main courses.

Our waitress was attentive and checked we had everything we needed. I had chicken linguine which was very nice and my partner had rump steak cooked medium. It was a little undercooked but he didn't mind that and told the waitress it was fine, when she did the steak meal check. Our son seemed to prefer it to his meal too! The spicy chips that accompanied the steak were powdery, edible but not overly pleasant. Both meals were well presented and went down a treat.

We ordered a salmon main course for our twins to share and the waitress was very helpful and brought over children's plates and cutlery. We had requested peas instead of vegetables as one of the twins has an obsession with them. This had been forgotten when the meal arrived. However, when asked, the waitress quickly brought over a portion of peas, which our son happily demolished. The salmon was delicious and reasonably sized. We had requested the meal with chips instead of potatoes, which we found a little greasy, although we normally have oven cooked chips at home.

Our plates were cleared promptly and we were presented with dessert menus.

For dessert, we had caramel apple crumple, chocolate fudge brownie sundae and fruit salad for the children. All desserts were delicious and spot on.

As we paid, our waitress recommended the Santa breakfast and told us how to do the online survey.

The restaurant appeared clean and tidy, the toilets were also clean and stocked up with toilet roll and soap.

I had been a little apprehensive about reviewing The Warden Tavern as I had a couple of bad experiences there in the past and had not returned in a while. However, we all had a lovely time and would recommend it to others and return in the future. We could not fault the service, and everything arrived quickly which really helps when dining with young children.
