My 4 year old daughter just loves doing anything crafty, so I was delighted to receive Beados Gem Colour Studio to review.

The item arrived in a massive box with lots of cardboard packaging. This meant that it arrived intact and undamaged from being posted.

The idea is you can make beaded jewellery with just water – no glue is required and therefore, no mess. This certainly appeals to parents – it sounds perfect! My daughter is a girly girl and loves jewellery and really relished the opportunity to make her own.

The main item is the Gem Studio which stores the gems and has a pen attached which allows you to put your beads into the correct place on the template (6 are provided). My daughter needed me to help her use the Gem Studio and she found it quite tricky getting the beads on to the exact correct place on the design tray.

Nevertheless, once her designs had dried and we attached them to the necklace or bracelet, she was absolutely thrilled!

The fab bits about this item are; a well-designed ‘Design Studio’ making it easy to pick out the specific colour bead, a variety of templates and no mess.

Elements I think could be improved include the size of the packaging (storing this takes up room) and the age it is suitable from (probably more like 5 or 6 years old).

It retails at £16.99 which I think is a good price as it can be used over and over as you can buy replacement bead packs.
