Well, what can I say about last night’s performance at The Lowry? Other than I have never laughed so much in my entire life. I think I must have spent the full 90 minutes of Chris’ show in a fit of giggles, as did the majority of the 1000 other members of the audience…
I had previously watched Chris perform at The Lowry in the medium sized Quay theatre hall 18 months ago. My husband and I are fans of Celebrity Juice and became fans of Chris from his appearances on the show. You could tell he was greatly proud of his achievement in moving up from the small Studio theatre to the Quay theatre and now to the Lyric theatre in a matter of around 4 years. It is no surprise though as Chris is an absolutely hilarious comedian and he truly deserves the recognition.
Chris was supported by his friend Carl Hutchinson who warmed the audience up brilliantly. We saw him on Chris’s last tour and some of his material was a little repetitive but we still had a great laugh. He is a wonderful comedian and an excellent warm up act, who did just that and got us all in the mood for the main act.
Following a short interval Chris emerged to the stage to a huge reception from the audience. He began by apologising for the date change and the fact that some people had been giving alternative seats than they may have booked. This resulted in some heckling from the crowd, to which Chris gave examples of tweets he had received in the interval. He then had a joke with one Tweeter, who had booked front row seats and had been changed to the middle of the stalls, to his dismay.
There was lots of interaction with the audience, I particularly enjoyed the bit where he was explaining the reason for the name of the show and was asking people on the front row what they wanted to be when they grew up and what they are now. His sharing of the North/South divide audience reactions was another great part of the show. To be honest it was an amazing all round performance and the whole audience responded fantastically to Chris.
Overall this was an outstanding show and my husband and I had an excellent evening.
