Barking DVD Review

Barking

Reviewed by Angela Davis

This DVD is taken from the original 1998 series which was aired on Channel 4. The original programme was the first time comedians such as David Walliams, Matt Lucas, Catherine Tate, Peter Kay, Mackenzie Crook  and many others had their first breakthrough ideas on TV. Now many of them are household names because of the series.

The DVD shows off both the individual talents of the comedians as well as presenting the formulas that we have come to know so well from each of them. The comedy is cutting and observant rather than fall about funny, just as you would expect of these types of artists and with the familiarity that we have of them today, the DVD does not feel at all dated, as the majority of the comedy is still just as valid now as it was when the programme was first released.

I don’t think this is a DVD to sit & watch with the family, much more appropriate for a drink with the mates as there is some bad language, although it is rated 15, so perhaps one to watch with the older kids who would appreciate a lot of the humour.
