Having noticed my skin was a little dry, I was delighted to try this recovery face cream. It arrived in a bubble wrap envelope neatly wrapped with green tissue paper covered with black outlines to resemble shapes of faces, lips etc. which gives the product immediately a clean modern image. The recovery face cream I received is 30ml and comes in a recyclable glass jar with aluminium lid. This was fine but unfortunately despite the tissue paper and bubble wrap protecting the jar, the lid being made of aluminium, had a dent on it. Despite this, I liked the simple design. You can also get a larger jar (60ml) which is less than double the price of the smaller jar, so it is worth considering if you like the face cream.
The face cream is produced by Beth who previously worked in the beauty industry for 15 years before setting up her own company BAO in 2012. BAO stands for Beth’s Aromatherapy Organic and is pronounced “Bay-O”. A simple but effective name that looks good on the jar as the A is written in the shape of a triangle. The instructions were clear on the jar though as you get older, you find your sight changes and so tiny writing can be difficult to read without the aid of glasses, contact lenses or magnifying glass. It would be better if the font size was a little larger. Now down to the business of trying the face cream! My face has been cleansed and so ready for the next step. I unscrewed the lid and immediately got a lovely smell of citrus (sweet orange), which for me bodes well indeed.
Following the instructions, I dabbed small amounts of the cream on my face, and neck. The cream was rubbed into my skin using gentle sweeping upward movements of the fingers. The cream was easily absorbed into my skin and my skin smelt very pleasant. The cream is recommended for all types of skin; dry; sensitive; pregnant; oily; acne- prone; and dehydrated skin. The website says it delivers nourishing hydration and relief to even the most delicate and sensitive skin conditions. It contains calming organic ingredients such as chamomile which helps soothe, hydrate, and improve skin’s elasticity, tone, and radiance. It also contains like most expensive skin products, hyaluronic acid which helps plump and keep the skin fresh and clear. What does the recovery face cream do? – well it is supposed to reduced pigmentation and evens skin tone; plumps skin; reduce fine lines and wrinkles; help to repair dry eczema prone skin and balance the sebum levels as well as provide a brighter complexion. Does it? Well after a few days, my face appears smoother, plumper so less lines around the eyes and mouth. It is certainly easy to put on and hardly takes any time at all, so you do not feel you are adding an extra chore to your morning’s routines. Also, the smell is refreshing and just the right smell first thing in the morning. BAO Skincare states on its website that it is one of the few brands that’s certified and registered both organic and vegan whilst also being 100% cruelty free, so it ticks all the right boxes. I will certainly continue to use it to see if others notice the difference.
