Okay, so I don’t claim to be as talented as the very gorgeous Nigella Lawson – I don’t have the fairy lights, or the baking skills, but as a family we do love to bake. We have always been busy in the kitchen making fairy cakes, birthday cakes, scones and cookies, so I was excited to be chosen to review a selection of Aldi’s kitchen baking range.

Using all the items below we made some fabulous choc chip muffins and a delicious fruit smoothie for breakfast!

MIXING BOWLS
Who could resist these gorgeous pastel coloured mixing bowls. It’s almost a shame to hide them in a cupboard – so we have used the middle one as a fruit bowl displayed on our kitchen worktops!

The bowls are made from a very durable melamine – and although light weight feel quite sturdy and strong – great for little boys not so delicate baking techniques! And on that note, they also have a non slip base – a big plus when backing with children.
They are perfect for the dishwasher and don’t get marked easily when used with a mixer or sharper objects.

As a set of 4 nesting mixing bowls (small, medium, large and extra large), they stack away into each other for easy storage and space saving.

RESULTS: A big thumbs up from our kitchen chefs for these.
RRP: £12.99

4 PIECE BAKEWARE SET
This selection of tins and trays cover your general baking shapes and needs.

The set includes:
1 x flat baking tray (perfect for cookies or scones)
1 x 12 cup muffin tray (our go to favourite thing to make on a rainy weekend day)
1 x loaf tin (our new obsession of lemon cake works perfectly in this)
1 x round cake tin (great for a family back of Victoria sponge)

Our choc chip muffins came out perfectly as the holes for the muffin cases were deep enough to hold them and not move around but also wide enough that the mixer flattened before the oven, ensuring an even rise.

They all have a non –stick coating which is always a huge bonus; after all that hard work in the kitchen we don’t want our baking delights to feel more at home in their tin than on our cake stand, and another huge family baking plus is that they are dishwasher friendly; lets face it, after baking with a 5 year old I have enough to wash and wipe down!

The pans and trays are safe up to 230 degrees so suitable for almost all baking recipes I can think of!

The trays feel sturdy and strong, that I feel will survive the extremes of cooking heat, dishwasher heat and storage for a long time to come.

RESULTS: The quality is really impressive – would totally recommend.
RRP: £9.99

AMBIANO 3 in 1 hand blender (available in black or white).
With a teenage daughter in the house who’s more interested in Spotify than a nutritious breakfast on the way to school, having a new smoothie mixer has been the perfect way to help her have a healthy and nutritious start to the day.

Using the hand held blender, we blended together orange juice, 1 x banana and a handful of blueberries and raspberries together to make a delicious drink for her to have on her morning school walk; enabling me to use up some of the fruit in the kitchen and for her to look cool whilst out with her friends. Win, win!

The tumbler supplied is deep enough (700ml) not to cause any problems with splashing when using the blending rod and is supplied with a handy lid for popping into the fridge when done.

It was easy to use, having a basic on and off switch and then a high speed option and a 2 speed setting. We basically added all of our ingredients and slowly moving the blender up and down as it quickly liquidated into a delicious smoothie.

In the 3 in 1 set there are also options to use a chopper which we found was great for hiding carrots into bolognaise sauce for my younger one, but can be used to cut up any vegetables into smaller chunks, make pate or relishes.

And lastly the whisk included locks into place on the motor unit as well as an additional option. Whilst using this and the beaker, it whisked the ingredients cleanly and quickly, with hardly any egg splatters on the work top – we found it made fabulous smooth pancake batter!

All the components come apart really easily making them great to wash and clean – and mix and match!

RESULTS: The 3 in 1 hand blender was a great hit! It’s so versatile, easy to use and easy to store. Would totally recommend.
