Not hearing about these before I needed to do some research understandably.
When I hear and see the words ‘made in Britain’, ‘Biodegradable’ and ‘Recyclable’, these immediately get my attention as I love everything about all of them. They are even non-toxic and BPA free too. Phthalates are a mixture of chemicals which are used to make plastics more sturdy. BPA (Bisphenol A) is a nasty chemical that can be found in many commercial products which can also include food containers and hygiene products. Knowing that these cups are non toxic, Phthalates and BPA free is so very reassuring. So, that is a great starter to introducing these amazing cups.
These are such cute little cups and ideal for babies first sips when slowly being weened off the breast or even the bottle.
It said that they can be used for cup feeding expressed milk, avoiding the need for bottles and teats. As it mentions on the box, my daughter checked with her GP and he was very encouraging as he had heard about them. Mummy was very eager to try it out and promptly tried a cup with my 4 month old grandson it was very interesting. Interesting and phenomenal at the same time. It took a short while to get used to it. Approx 5-10 minutes after that, he was like a duck to a water. His natural suckling instinct kicked in and whilst Mummy held the cup and controlled how long the cup was in his mouth, it was so adorable to watch.
PLEASE NOTE: This is based on our experience and as the box the cups come in, please check with your healthcare professional first before trying these out.
The cups are great as a multi-functional cup as they are small enough to pop baby food in them. The cups do not come with lids (which I think and a suggestion, would be a great add-on to them from a transporting point of view, especially when out during the day).
They come in 4 beautiful colours which are clear, which also means you can see clearly what is in the cup(s):-
Pink
Blue
Yellow
Teal / Green
Each cup measures 50ml (1.5 US fl oz)
It is still too soon for me to comment on but the box does say that the cups supports oral development by encouraging sipping/optimal drinking action. It also states that they help in the development of fine motor skills. Time will tell with this as Mummy has only been trying this out for the last week and so far, she and baby are getting on great with them. Love the fact that Babycups website has a page dedicated to ‘How To Transition Fro a Bottle To An Open Cup, click the following link for more information:-
I do agree where it also states that the cups are a small which makes them perfect for baby, toddler and your children’s hands. When Mummy is not feeding baby, she gets him to told the cup to encourage him to get used to the feel of it. This is great from a sensory perspective, touch, feel and mouthing. No doubt, as he gets older, he will be used to them that it will be easy like A, B, C and 1, 2, 3 🙂
They are strong and robust and dishwasher safe as log as you put them on the top shelf/rack. As they are so small, they do not take long to wash either.
Suggested age group is 0-2.5 years.
Would I recommend the Babycup? Absolutely!
Rating: My rating is 4.5/5.
Just 0.5 less out of 5, as I say, as a suggestion, to come with lids would make them a definite 5/5 to be able to transport them.
