I was recently sent some baby products from Aldi to test out with my baby. These were:
The first item of Aldi’s baby range which I opened was a white fleece blanket. The blanket edged with a pale green colour and has a cute little owl motif embroidered to one colour. The motif is fully backed to prevent loose threads. At 70 x 90cm it is a perfect size for use in cribs/cots. The blanket delivered in a roll tied with a ribbon and on the tag is a useful guide as to how many layers of bedding babies require. The only negative point is that as the blanket is 100% polyester it did feel quite synthetic however at a cost of £2.79 it is excellent value for money. Rating: 3/5
The cellular blanket I received was in the same pale green colour as the fleece blanket and co-ordinates with the other items in the range. I really like this colour as it makes a nice change from the baby blue usually on offer for baby boys. The holes in the cellular blanket are quite small so whilst breathable they are not big enough for little fingers to get caught in. I was surprised to see that at a cost of only £2.49 the blanket was 100% pure cotton. I have seen similar items in other high street stores for much more. Like the fleece blanket it is 70x90cm so a good size for the cot/crib. The packaging was minimal, just tied with a ribbon and like the fleece blanket there is a guide on the tag to how many layers babies need depending on the temperature. Rating: 4/5
Any new mum will say, you can never have enough Muslin Cloths and this set is excellent value at £3.29 for three. Made from 100% cotton they are very soft and a good size at 68cm x 68cm. The cloths co-ordinate with the other items in the range, one is white, one green and the other with the same owl motif as the fleece blanket. The cloths feel very good quality and are good value for money at £3.29. Rating: 5/5
Three Pack of Sleepsuits
I was really surprised at how soft and cuddly these 100% cotton sleepsuits are. In the pack of three are two white with ‘little prince’ and crown printed to the chest and the other in the coordinating green colour. The sleepsuits are long sleeved, have integral feet and poppers all down the front and each leg. The only negative for me is the lack of integral scratch mits as my little boy has a tendency to scratch his face in the night. Rating: 5/5
Muddy Paws New Friends Book
Muddy Paws is a puppy who is lonely when his owner Ben goes to school. One day Ben tells Muddy Paws they are both going to school but it is not Ben’s school they are going to it is Puppy school. The book then tells the tale of what mischief and fun Muddy Paws and his friends get up to at school. Muddypaws is a large book and not too wordy. I think it would be ideal to read together with your child at bedtime. There are plenty of pictures of cute puppies that would make anyone go ‘ahhh’ and it is a sweet story. Rating: 4/5
Overall I was really impressed with the items I received from Aldi’s baby range. I think that they are really good value for money and if you putting all of the items together you could make a lovely gift basket for a new mum.
Overall Rating: 4/5
