As Time Goes By is a British sitcom that was shown on the BBC between 1992-2005. The storyline is that two old lovers meet again after 38 years. This DVD features 2 reunion specials.

It starts with Jean (Dame Judi Dench) having 2 cots delivered before their children even get pregnant as she is desperate for grandchildren. Having grandchildren is something Lionel (Geoffrey Palmer) is not sure that it is something he wants so it causes him some distress and bad dreams.

Sandy and Harry return home with Sandy being very upset after Harry decides he wants to join Armed Response to further his career. Judy and Alistair want children but can’t and Alistair won’t get himself checked so Jean badgers Lionel into talking to him.

Just as things start working out OK Jean answers the door to a young man from Kenya claiming to be Lionel’s son!

Overall: I found these 2 reunion specials quite funny. Lionel has a very grumpy expression and demeanour and plays the part of the grumpy old man brilliantly and with Jean constantly nagging and interfering it makes for some great entertainment. An inoffensive, light-hearted comedy. Recommended.
