Family and Kids Board Games

Drumond Park LOGO Grab Review

Reviewed by David Savage

Drumond Park produce some excellent board games for kids and families and LOGO Grab from their very popular LOGO board game range is no exception, it’s fast, fun and entertaining for all the family.

The object of the game is to collect 2 sets of 3 coloured cards, or coasters as they are called, both have to be a different colour – i.e. 3 red coasters and 3 green coasters will win but 6 red coasters will not win.

LOGO Grab is a game for 2 to 4 players (age 8 years +). On opening the box there is 48 cards (coasters) with products on them, 8 large lettered dice of which 2 contain bells, a dice bag and instructions.

Setting up the game is very simple, all we had to do was deal 9 cards into the middle of the table in a 3×3 grid pattern with the pictures showing. Deal 2 coasters to each player (face up). Put all dice into the dice bag and shake them up.  That’s it; we were now ready to play.

Game play is easy and fast. The youngest player starts first going clockwise around the players. I was playing with my friend’s 11 year old daughter so she got to start first. She picked 4 dice out of the bag (without looking at them) and threw then into the middle of the table so we could both see them and are within easy reach of all the players. The first player to match a letter of the dice to a coaster (i.e R to Rice Krispies) shouts out the name Rice Krispies and grabs the dice with that matching letter. Easy you think? There is a twist. If the dice rings when you grab it you lose one of your coasters placing it any card you chose at the bottom of the main deck, if it is silent you can pick up the matching card and add it to your pile. The next player then takes their turn. The first person to collect 2 sets of 3 different coloured cards is the winner (there are four coloured sets: Blue, Green, Red and Yellow).

Overall, LOGO Grab is a fast paced game that is lots of fun. It takes concentration and fast eyes. It’s a bit like snap but matching dice letters to coasters but with the added twist of ringing dice losing you a collected card. The games are over pretty quickly but we loved playing it and you do need good concentration and eagle-eyes.

A great game for families to play together or children to play amongst themselves. With a retail price of £14.99 it is definitely value for money and will give you hours of fun. It can be taken anywhere with you as the coasters and dice all fit into the drawstring bag making it very portable.

An excellent, fun way to spend some quality time with family or friends.

Suitable for 2 to 4 players or teams age 8 years +.
