Amonax Adjustable Dumbbell 20KG Weight Set Review

During the pandemic, getting out to gyms to exercise has been difficult at best, so we decided to invest in some home exercise equipment, and love the convenience of being able to exercise at home, however because we don’t want it taking over the house, so ensuring the equipment can be easily stored is important to us. We have been on the lookout for a compact dumbbell set to complement our existing equipment, and I was therefore really excited to be chosen to review the Amonax 20kg Adjustable Dumbbell and weight set.

I was impressed with the delivery which was very quick arriving within 72hours of the order. This is an (obviously) heavy parcel, but it was sturdy and much more compact than I had expected of a set of this size.

The set consists of two hand grips which can be used individually as part of the dumbbells or can be combined with another bar (which is also included) to make a barbell. There is also a selection of weighs (4 x 2.5kg, 4x 1.25kg and 4 x 0.5kg) giving eight different weight combinations to meet individual needs. As a result of this, the weights can be used to work a variety of muscle groups, such as chest, bicep, triceps and can also be used in exercises such as squats. I also noted on the website there is a bigger set available too if this one doesn’t quite meet your needs.

We really liked that the dumbbell handles convert into a barbell – this is a clever idea as it makes the set much more compact and easier to store. When connected together the barbell feels very robust and secure, even thought it began in three parts. The spin locks which hold the weights in place, whether using the dumbbells or the barbell, also held secure during exercise and I had no concerns that the weights would do anything other than stay put. With a product such as this, it is essential to have confidence in the equipment.

The hand grips also feel solid and help to maintain firm grip on the dumbbells or barbell while exercising, a must if you plan to break a sweat! The set looks good too with the dumbbells and barbell in a shiny chrome contrasting with the matt black, cast iron weights, and the whole set feels sturdy. From the quality feel of the weights, I felt confident they would be durable, and from researching the Amonax weights set, I discovered a 2-year warranty is also included, which gave me further confidence in the product withstanding wear and tear.

With the set comes very clear instructions for how to assemble the various elements to achieve the desired configuration. I was worried that the set would require some complex assembly, when I saw how small the box was, but this was not the case and I found it completed self-explanatory, this is also good news if you are varying your exercise routine midsession, allowing for a swift transition and ensuring this is not too time consuming or disruptive. The range of different combinations available means that the set can be used for a wide variety of exercises depending on your preferences and because of the wide range of combinations, the weights would be suitable for both men and women.
We found the set to be of excellent quality, which is not something we take for granted, due to previous experience with buying home exercise equipment, which we have found can be of a variable (and sometimes questionable) quality.

The product information also suggests that the weights set will be compatible with most standard weights storage systems so perfect for a home gym, or even if you just have a small space in a cupboard, the whole set when packed into the box does not take up much more space than a shoebox.

Although we were looking to invest in some weights to complement our home gym, this would also make an excellent gift for anyone with an interest in fitness, looking to tone up or just loose a bit of weight. The Amonax 20kg dumbbell weight set is perfect for all, whether they are new to exercising using weights or a diehard exercise fan!
