You may think that you do not need ear protectors for your little one, but the world is definitely getting increasingly noisier, and I’d argue that these are essential for all babies and children to protect their developing ears. I absolutely wish these had been available when my babies were tiny 30 years ago, as I know that they would have been useful and protected their little ears.

As a family, this year we have a long-haul flight booked and having researched ‘the net’ we decided that the Alpine Muffy Baby earmuffs were going to be the best option for the youngest in our party. So, we went ahead, placed the order and they arrived the very next day, packaged in a compact but sturdy brown cardboard box. Inside the box the earmuffs were set up and ready to fit, they are pre-positioned on a wide adjustable elasticated soft headband, also included is a storage bag (this will be great to keep them clean and safe – especially for travel) and an instruction leaflet. There is also a QR code printed on the box that you can scan and which will take you directly to the Alpine Hearing Protection website – www.alpinehearingprotection.com where you can access information about the earmuffs as well as different options for older children and adults.

These headphones are magic! We decided to start by popping them on him during the day at home when he is happily playing to ensure that he (the 14-month-old) has time to get used to them before the trip. But we did NOT expect him on the very first time of wearing them to love them so much that when it was time to take them off – he would cry as he wanted to keep them on!! Yep, they were an absolute hit… We will continue ‘practising’ with them until the day of departure, but I feel confident that we are not going to experience any problems with these earmuffs. I also understand that these baby earmuffs do not put pressure on delicate areas like the fontanelle, and because they are so comfortable even small babies are happy to wear them.

We selected the ‘sky blue’ colour, but there are 4 other colour options to choose from – these include sage green, rose pink, dusk black and dawn purple. The headphones are really lightweight – weighing in at just 116g – and so much slimmer than I had expected, the comfy ‘leather like’ non slip, internal cushioning is really soft, each ear is clearly labelled internally with a large ‘L’ and ‘R’ and the earmuffs stay securely in place with a super soft, adjustable Velcro strap which is easily adjusted on both sides (this strap can be removed from the earmuffs for washing). Amazingly these earmuffs are suitable from birth to 48 months.

I know there will be many opportunities where we will be able to make full use of these earmuffs over the next few years, as there will be so many different activities and events with lots of noise, so I will make sure that we have the earmuffs always packed in the baby bag. Events such as festivals, carnivals, (weddings) parties, sports events, or motor racing. I think I will even get them out when we do DIY chores in our home or garden when there is going to be a lot of noise, such as drilling, grinding, or cutting grass. What a great piece of kit and I feel that the Alpine Muffy Baby earmuffs should be on every new parent ‘essential’ to buy list!
