After an incredibly long lockdown due to Covid 19 with three children aged 7, 5 and 3, getting chosen for a review like this couldn’t have come at a better time!
I was sent two incredibly well packaged bottles of spirits, one a Raspberry Mojito Rum and one a Strawberry and Lime Gin, what can I say but WOW what a taste experience and how lucky am I to get to drink them!
The Sea Dog Raspberry Mojito Rum is just an incredible flavour, I did exactly as it said on the bottle and poured it over ice with lemonade (you can also use tonic or soda water) and a wedge of lime. I was not disappointed, the flavour is incredible, sweet, delicious citrus flavour and a wonderful mint finish, I think the lemonade enhanced and added to the flavours. I was surprised at just how good it was. The next time I made myself a drink I used some frozen raspberries instead and it was such a lovely drink, perfect to have on a warm summers evening – although to be honest I would happily drink it any day of the year. The bottle is a generous size (70cl) and an absolute bargain at just £14.99, this flavour is a limited release so I would advise that if you would like to try it for yourself that you head over to Aldi soon as I for one will be buying plenty of it, as I’m sure will anyone be that tries it, it really is that delicious!
Onto the Haysmiths Strawberry and Lime Gin, the flavour of fresh strawberries balanced with aromatic lime. This one says to mix with a premium tonic and serve with ice, however I don’t like tonic – I’m one of those people that can taste the bitterness of the bubbles – so I chose to mix with lemonade again instead. This one is a little more alcohol tasting, however that doesn’t take away from the fact that again it is a really refreshing and beautiful flavour. Another one that is just perfect for a summer evening and would be a welcome addition to anyones gin collection. The tag around the neck of the bottle says exceptional gin and they aren’t lying. This is another great size bottle 70cl and again at just £14.99 it’s a bargain, you can pay a lot more for a gin of this quality in a smaller bottle so definitely worth popping one in your trolley with the weekly shop or even head over there just for their amazing alcohol section, you really wont be disappointed.
These bottles are also perfect gifts for anyone who might like the odd tipple that tastes great. Not only will they not break the bank but they’ll look the part. The gin in particular is in a beautifully designed bottle with a little folded card with the description of the gin and flavours detailed inside, another lovely touch. I’m sure if you arrived at anyones house and presented either of these bottles as a gift that they would be over the moon, I know I sure would be!
Of course if you do take these as a gift to anyones house or you do enjoy them in your own, do enjoy them responsibly, I can tell you that they go down very easily.
I will be heading to Aldi shortly to stock up on these and see what else is in the range and will also be recommending them to anyone else I know that may like them!
