I was over the moon to receive a lovely wicker hamper of ALDI Goodies in commemoration of the ball event held on 9 September 2015.
ALDI SERVES AWARD-WINNING MEAL AT TEAM GB BALL
London 2012 medallists, Olympic hopefuls and stars from the world of sport, fashion and entertainment enjoyed a medal-winning meal courtesy of Aldi at last night’s Team GB Ball, where guests showed support for athletes on the road to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The supermarket – the first ever to partner with Team GB – provided the ingredients for the menu, which included its award-winning Specially Selected 28 Day Matured British Fillet steaks, accompanied by chimichurri sauce, braised black beans, sweet potato and greens.
The meal also featured the retailer’s Specially Selected British Free Range Chicken Breast Fillets, alongside a delicious chorizo salad with orange dressing.
Guests at the black-tie event, hosted by two-time Olympic gold medallist, Victoria Pendleton, enjoyed a selection of Aldi’s award-winning wines including The Exquisite Collection Private Bin Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, The Exquisite Collection Wairarapa Pinot Noir and Champagne Veuve Monsigny.
Aldi products continue to top various consumer choice and industry awards.
So far in 2015, Aldi is having its most successful year-to-date, winning more accolades than ever before. In June, Aldi was named Which? Best Supermarket for a record fourth time and was also named Multiple Retailer of the Year at the FPC Fresh Awards. Over 60 of its products were also crowned winners at the recent Great Taste Awards.
Jonathan Neale, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to be the first supermarket to partner Team GB and are delighted to have been able to supply the finest ingredients for last night’s ball.
“Since we opened our doors in the UK in April 1990, we’ve worked hard to establish British roots, sourcing the very best products locally where possible and building long-term relationships with British suppliers.
“The menu was a great success and further testament to our commitment to providing the highest quality products to UK consumers at everyday low prices.”

The chicken and chorizo salad was served at the ball as a starter and I recreated it. It contained the following items:
Honey, chorizo, oranges, Pinot Noir, red onions, some jars of spices, some coffee, gem lettuce and some celery.
We did not use chicken breast ourselves.
My daughter and I were having fajitas and so I used some of the ingredients when making them. We also had a lovely salad accompanying it from many of the ingredients. My twins wanted to eat the juicy oranges from the moment they arrived. Everything tasted top quality and went down well with everyone.
What I love most about ALDI is that you can buy basic ingredients cheaply and cook healthy meals from scratch. I am following a healthy eating plan at the moment and have managed to lose almost 1 stone so am absolutely delighted. Shopping at ALDI has 100% helped me in this quest to be a healthier weight.
