What makes their afternoon tea different?

Dalchini, the first authentic Indo-Chinese restaurant in the UK, established in London, 2000. With textures and ingredients from China, married with the spices and aromas of India, the synthesis of two cultures colliding created a magical experience. Today, our chefs passionately present to you this authentic Indo-Chinese Cuisine.

Our experience.

On arrival we were greeted by our lovely waiter who seated us by the window. He said that the afternoon tea is a new venture for them, hence us being the only diners and you could tell he was passionate about the restaurant. The restaurant itself that has a lovely and intimate feel to it and I would love to see it when they are busy as we felt a little lost with just one member of staff and us.

We were given the menu of which you choose two of the sandwiches’ choices rather than having a selection of all and I did feel that I’d have rather had a more varied choice rather than either cheese and lettuce, roasted vegetable, or chicken, all of which came on white bread.

After about forty minutes of placing our order, the teas arrived in beautiful cast iron traditional tea pots. I had the fruit tea which was delicious and one of the nicest I have ever tried. My friend had the green tea and again she said that was good too.

A few minutes later we were presented with the afternoon tea which came on lovely, tiered Bone China plate. There was a lot of choice despite the lack of sandwich options. The scones, one of which was fruit, and the other cheese were nice but the cheese one tasted like a plain scone. I particularly enjoyed the prawn toast which was part of the Indian Chinese selected coupled with samosas and crispy paneer

Would I go again? Maybe! – I would like to see a more varied sandwich selection and an alternative to white bread. The other thing that was odd was that the accompaniments were on a metal tiffin typed tray and the savoury dips etc were on the same plate as the jam and cream which I feel should have been separate especially being that I dipped my samosa into strawberry jam.

Rating: 4/5
