I recently received a Starter Pack from Voxblock. The screen-free audiobook player for kids. Both my children love a story. They are a huge fan of books with shelves full of them. But being so young they depend on me most of the time to read them. This I thought is a great solution for those times I’m a little busy and need to keep them occupied but don’t really want to encourage any more screen time.
There are a wide variety of books available to choose from with some classics for all ages and some from well known and loved authors such as Beatrix Potter and Jane Austen. Stories from what I can see run from about 1 hour to up to 6 hours.
The player is bigger than I expected but perfect for little one’s hands. It seems very robust especially if you add one of the protector bumpers to it. Its super simple to use – even my three 3 year can pop a book into the player and listen with ease. The buttons are big and easy to use and the functions very simple to follow. The sleep timer is a great addition too as is the auto shut off. The books are just blocks but slip easily into the player. It all looks like a lovely unit when put together.
The Audiobook Player on its on costs £39.99 or £49.99 with a bumper which come in the colour’s orange, green and red. Audio book prices vary from £5.99 to £15.99 for a single story audiobook or from between £18 and £69.99 for a bundle.

Also included in the box is a collection card and three tokens. Presumably you receive tokens each time you make a purchase and once you have 10 you can return the card to receive a free audio book. Which is a great little loyalty scheme. There is also a magazine with quizzes and info as well as a poster of some of the most popular books so you can tick off which you have or would like.
I’m really pleased with this audiobook player. My kids love it – my six year old has been enjoying putting on a story to listen to while drawing and colouring in and my little boy loves the fact that he can pick a book and listen to the story all by himself with no help. There’s not enough stories for adults yet but I would definitely recommend it to friends with kids. It would make a great Christmas present. I would give it 5 stars.
