If you’re looking for a luxury gift for the special man in your life, this Rotary Windsor watch is a perfect present for Valentine’s Day.
After opening the white outer box (which is embossed with a smart silver Rotary logo), there is a nicely designed presentation box, which immediately makes this stand out from watches in a lower price bracket. The British racing green nods to the British design, while the grey stripe emblazoned with ‘Original British Design’ reinforces this.
The watch itself is a handsomely designed classic dress watch, with four dials showing date, month, day and moonphase. The moonphase dial adds a splash of depth and colour, which really lifts the design of the watch.
The casing is stainless steel with a sapphire crystal face and 50 metres of water resistance. It’s a slim design, with a 38mm face and 45mm lug to lug dimensions, so perhaps suited particularly for gentlemen with smaller wrists.
The watch has obviously been designed with care, with lots of attention to detail. The strap is made of real leather with nice stitching. The Rotary logo is repeated on the buckle and again on the face, while the back of the watch highlights the history of Rotary by proudly stating its 125 year heritage. The delicate silver detailing on the face makes this a perfect watch for smart days out, and it’s a design that he’ll be proud to show off to his friends and colleagues.
If you hold the watch up close to your ear you can hear a very gentle ticking, but it’s such delicate sound that it doesn’t risk any disturbance. Instead it serves as a subtle reminder of the high quality time-keeping provided by the watch, which is powered by quartz movement.
I was particularly impressed that the watch arrived ready-to-go, with the correct date and time. I’m used to cheaper watches where you have to set it all up yourself, so was pleased by the extra attention to detail here. Having said that, it would be helpful for the manufacturers to include instructions on how to change the time if you wish to. The first person I gave the watch to instantly fiddled with the dial, undoing all the careful work the manufacturers had done! Since there were no instructions included in the box, he had to google to find out how to change it back, so an instruction booklet could have been useful.
It’s worth noting that there’s no lume on the watch, and since it has a silver face with silver hands, it’s not the easiest to tell the time in the dark. But since many people prefer watches without this ‘glow in the dark’ function, this isn’t necessarily a downside.
The watch comes with a Rotary 2+1* Year Guarantee (*with Rotary registration), so you can be sure of the quality you’re receiving. The handsome design, attention to detail and beautiful presentation box all combine to make this a wonderful gift.
Just like your love, this is a watch that’s made to last.
