We all know that single use plastic bottles are bad for the environment and yet when you go to the gym or for a walk or even on a long car journey you need to make sure you stay hydrated and drink lots of water. As a result I’m a huge fan of reusable water bottles and was therefore really excited to try both the Contigo Autoseal Chill bottle and the Contigo Matterhorn water bottle and see what they were like.
Contigo is a brand who believes that all ‘products must solve a meaningful problem’ and wanted to create a bottle which didn’t leak or spill. They have definitely achieved this! The Contigo Autoseal chill bottle comes in two different colours (matte black and grey (called macaroon on the website) and fits 720ml in it (which is a great size for when you are exercising for several hours). It has both AUTOSEAL™ technology and Thermalock™ double-wall vacuum insulation technology which means it should never leak and should keep drinks cold for up to 28 hours. I absolutely loved that the lid is opened by pushing a button which makes taking a sip with only one hand incredibly easy to do. It also makes this bottle perfect for activities such as cycling or running (or even just when you are driving) where you might want to drink without having to stop what you are doing. I was also pleasantly surprised by just how cold my water was after being in the bottle for over 24 hour.
The CONTIGO Matterhorn couture collection water bottle comes in five different colours including blue slate and sandstone (mine is white marble) and they are as beautiful as any water bottle will ever be! It is slightly smaller that the Autoseal chill bottle at 590ml in it and on the label it claims to keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours or hot for up to 10 hours due to the Thermalock™ double-wall vacuum insulation and I was incredibly happy to find out that it did. Over the last week I have been on several long walks and long car journeys and each time I have been impressed with just how cold my water has remained when I take a sip – especially when it has been in a hot car for over 5 hours! I also really like that the spout is removable (so it is nice and easy to add ice cubes and to clean) and that the lid is attached to the body so you don’t have to worry about losing the lid.
On their website they have a variety of other bottles including travel mugs and kids bottles all in a selection of patterns or colours. It really does feel like Contigo has tried to create a water bottle that is practical and fit for purpose and they have definitely succeeded!
I would highly recommend both these bottles to anyone but especially anyone who does a lot of exercise and needs to keep hydrated.
