Nerf Elite 2.0 Phoenix CS-6
To say my children were excited to learn we had a nerf gun to review is an understatement, they have wanted one for a long long time!
As with most Nerf guns it came in it’s own cardboard backing with plastic straps attaching it to the card, nice and easy to get out and quicker straight to the action. Being mainly cardboard it does make it all nice and easy to recycle and much better for the environment too. On the box are the details for the Elite 2.0, it includes 12 darts and is suitable for age 8+, this Nerf gun fires up to 27m so definitely needs some care and caution when using it as the darts go super hard and fast out of the barrel. This particular version is battery operated and takes 4x AA, being battery operated is brilliant for quick firing and rapid fun, instead of having to pull back to launch the darts yourself the batteries do all of the hard work. As yet the batteries also seem to be lasting well and not running out too quickly, so lots of fun without the fuss and expense.
The Nerf gun itself is big, a nice size for feeling like you are the king/queen of the battle, the clip holds 6 darts which shoot rapidly, so if you want to reload and get back in the action quickly you might want to upgrade or have a few more loaded and ready to go. The Phoenix CS-6 also only comes with 12 darts, my little monsters have already managed to lose one from a ricochet and magical disappearance so if you don’t want some very disappointed children I’d suggest buying some refills.
Nerf guns can be upgraded and this one is no exception, it has all the expected tactical rails (x5 on this model), a barrel attachment point, a detachable and moveable scope and a stock attachment point so for anyone that already has lots of Nerf guns and likes to upgrade there is plenty of potential.
This Nerf gun is easy to use, and wont fire accidentally on its own as you need to press in 2 places, one activates the mechanism and the other is the trigger to fire the darts, making sure the darts are only fired when intended.
Now all we need is something for my little monsters to aim at as my table, doors and vacuum are taking a battering!

Panasonic Evolta 4+4 AA Battery Pack
I’ve got to be honest I don’t really know much about batteries, but these Panasonic ones have been great in the Nerf gun, they have so far lasted well and have plenty of power to get the job done, to not disappoint the monsters and not have me replacing them every 5 minutes when they run out.
The packaging is easy open with two tear up tabs to easily access the two sets of 4 batteries. They say they will last for up to 10 years in storage, if they get that far, they don’t seem to last longer than a month in my house, they also have anti leak protection (if used correctly) hopefully this will save some toys from the dreaded battery leakage!

Gear4 Orlando iPad Case
We have a few iPads in our house and I am ashamed to say that none are in a case, they used to be but they don’t last long, there is a reason I call my little ones the monsters. So getting picked for this review probably came at a good time, for our technology at least!
The case came really nicely boxed, all cardboard, which I like to see, super easy to recycle and better for everyone. The box has a viewing window so you can see and feel exactly what you are getting and also has product images and information.
The Orlando case is suitable for ages 4+ and fits iPad 10.2 inch, 7th and 8th generations.
Once you get it out you realise how tactile the case is, it feels lovely, soft but durable, ours is a lovely blue colour and it fits the iPad really well, you can see how safe it is going to keep it. The Orlando is designed with little people and little hands in mind, from the friendly character face on the back to the ‘arms’ that you can use to carry the case or stand up the tablet to watch or play. There are all the relevant cut-outs around the case for cameras, chargers and speakers etc. The arms are re-positionable, both move independently, they have set angles where they sit comfortably allowing them to stand up the case to watch a film, or can even go all the way up and be used as a handle or slotted around something like a head rest to make car or train journeys easier.
The Orlando iPad case made by Gear4 is protected by D30, this stuff is used to protect all manor of things from sports helmets, to military items and now your most valuable electronics. D30 is an amazing product, it is used to protect, it is a soft and flexible material that is used to absorb and dissipate energy and then returns to its original state, so if you drop your iPad it is protected from the force and will be again in the future, this is exactly what you want from a product like this and this case even has a lifetime warranty (so although it appears expensive in the long run it is value for money) more peace of mind for the customer.
Now I have the issue that the monsters all want the iPad that has the cool case and no one wants the naked ones!
Oh and the case is available in blue, green and coral, so maybe we will get one in each colour and they can choose.
