Lockdown is a great opportunity to try lots of games and activities you haven’t tried before so my 7 year old son was very pleased to find out that I was being sent the Bunch O Balloons Rapid-Filling Self-Sealing balloons to test out.
The balloons come in packs of 100, packed into a smallish clearly labelled foil pouch. On opening the pouch, we found 3 bunches of balloons connected together with both hose and tap type connectors. The instructions on the pack were very clear and easy to follow so with my son excitedly jumping up and down we found a container to put the first bunch in and connected the hose pipe to it. It was extremely quick and easy to do, although getting just the right amount of water in was a little tricky, too much and they burst a lot quicker so don’t last as long, not enough and they bounce instead of burst. They self-seal so no messing around trying to tie up 100 balloons, they have a small rubber band on each one, as you take of the hose you shake each balloon and the band moves down to seal them. A couple didn’t seal straight away and just needed a tweak, as noted on the instructions. The balloons are a qood quality natural rubber latex and we didn’t have any that didn’t fill up or burst on filling, as per the packaging you really could fill up 100 water balloons in 60 seconds.
Swim kit on and we were ready to play with the first bunch, they were great fun with not all bursting so some could be used again. We found them a good fit for little hands, they were easy to throw and you even catch them if you were careful. Ten minutes later they had all burst and the next bunch was being filled before another water fight ensued. Again, another ten minutes and the whole pack was gone and my son asking for more.
All pieces of the Bunch O Balloons Rapid-Filling Self-Sealing balloons are 100% recyclable, the foil packaging, the balloon pieces, and the water filling stem, but they do leave a mess, there were small pieces of coloured latex all over our patio which did need sweeping up afterwards. It didn’t take long though and at least you know that you can dispose of the remnants without them being in landfill for years. I thought that they were quite expensive for half an hour’s fun, apart from maybe a one-off treat, but they would make a great gift or be brilliant for a summer birthday party. I just wish that they were re-fillable so that you got hours of play, rather than minutes. We did browse the website to see if you could buy replacement balloons to use with the existing connector, but we couldn’t find any.
My son loved these balloons and thought they were fantastic fun, really easy to use and quick to fill up. Suitable for all ages from 3 upwards, adults and children alike will enjoy having a full on water fight without any stressful filling and tying up.
